composition for the "red sound blanket objects" - installation, presented in three little sleeping rooms of the Brotherhood house in Schoorl during the Schok art festival 2001. Schoorl is a little village near the sea with formerly a lot of sheep farmers. The tactile sonic installation existed of three "red blanket sound objects" of different size hanging in the sleeping rooms. The public who could walk around and touch the woollen sound objects, hearing and feeling the sounds of the origin: the production process of the "red woollen blanket" as part of Dutch sonic heritage.

'Speaking Sirens' is a podcast for Aura Satz’s 'Warnings in Waiting' exhibition at Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo (09.06.23 – 06.08.23). It is part of Satz's larger 'Preemptive Listening' film and research project on emergency listening and alternative siren sounds.

'Speaking Sirens' includes excerpts of specially-commissioned compositions from Debit, Evelyn Glennie, Laurie Spiegel and David Toop, and spoken word interviews by Daphne Carr, Evelyn Glennie and Hillel Schwartz, hosted by artist and film maker Aura Satz with researcher and curator Irene Revell.

In the spring Lemon Creek comes down the mountain with fierce, roaring white-water energy. But in July, when this was recorded, it meanders leisurely through pebbles and rocks, whirling and burbling, trickling and whispering. Take a moment and listen. Slow down. Breathe. There is magic in listening.

02.Reflection

Ricardo Huisman is an Amsterdam based soundsculpture / installation artist, soundscape composer, community sound artist and artistic researcher. Inspired by Acoustic Ecology, Music Concrete, J. Cage, Avant-garde, Contemporary (Classical) Music, Sound- and Sense studies.  His installations can be experienced as multi-sensorial tactile interfaces. The “touchsound” produced by his “tactile sonic sculptures” includes composed soundscapes that reveal multiple associative dimensions, bodily sensations that could give rise to new spaces for imagination and playfull knowledge. Huisman invites people to interact within his community sound art projects, to become co-creators of their own “multisensorial hearing perspectives” and response-able and responsible joint owners of the sound habitat.
