It was early 2013 when inner landscapes finally got
audible. Martin van Rossum aka Martin Nonstatic
moved to Cologne while Jens from Essen sent a
pleasant release offer. Several EPs, remix and
packaging projects got finished and the favorite
synthesizer was back on duty again, leading to the
first track „Inner Landscapes“ which in turn also
provided the album's title.
Martin took 14 months scrutinizing his workflow
involving both software and hardware to invent fresh
track concepts for his album. Constantly inspired by
the Rhenish environment with all of its movements
and encounters the album concentrated on those
„inner landscapes“. Playful and liberated he
combined field recordings with soundscapes, voices
and nature sounds into deep sequence paths.
Wave noises and Indonesian voices trickle onto the
album’s opening track „Behind The Window“ and the
dub oriented „Gilli Nangu“ while a fine dusty
crackle meets deep dub chords and sonic ideas
salvaged from earlier live sessions and synthesizer
recordings throughout the album, supported by
electro-ambient and minimal beat structures and
alternating rhythmic patterns, clearly showcasing
Martin’s extensive experience of both analyzing and
producing ambient and dub techno sounds.
Embedded between its otherworldly opening and a
dreamy outro are 11 aural landscapes forming a 74
minute tour-de-force, and after its long production
phase the emotional waveforms and clear ideas of
Martin Nonstatic’s „Inner Landscapes“ have finally
found their place and are ready to be heard on the
outside.

Welcome to the 55th Ambient Sessions presented by Deep Electronics. This monthly released podcast brings you the best and the most diversity Ambient music can offer.
It's the first sunday of april and nature is gonna grow into many colours. The music of Gallery Six  reflects this wonderfull season.

About the mix:

I especially prefer natural sounds or scenery without artificial materials, and I have visited many places so as to record them for composition or take pictures so far.
Nature tells us a lot of things. We simply feel it beautiful as well as fear, cruel once in a while. But I think they are all nature, I can feel cosmic beauty there. Always, I would like to feel those universal beauty, which no one can control, with my eyes and ears.

I would be happy if you could feel my thoughts even a little through this mix.

Ambient Sessions # 55 - Gallery Six

Silent Season is proud to present Segue's third full-length LP with the label. On his new album, Jordan Sauer explores a new facet of West Canadian natural history. Four thousand years ago, Western Canada's First Nations people migrated into the fjords and rainforests carved out by the retreating glaciation of the last Ice Age. The Island is a tribute to Canada's prehistory and the spiritual journey of a people entering a forever-altered landscape to call their home.

 While Segue's last album very much explored a cross section journey of British Columbia from the mountains to the sea, The Island explores the hidden coastlines and inlets that pepper a still-mysterious landscape, fragile in its uniqueness and isolation.

 The album features new tricks on full display in addition to the signature, instantly recognizable sounds of Segue's music. "Mirage" goes full post-rock at the end with a gliding climax of guitar over a gorgeous pad of dubby synths. "Beacon Point" swings like a stone skipping on the glassy surface of a hidden lake in the Strathcona Region. "Desolation Sound" features an almost-acid synth line that weaves in and out like the interlocking patterns on a Salish cedar basket.

 Throughout the album, each song spreads out beautifully as a reflection of the place or thing it's named after and paints a stunning portrait of BC's natural wealth. At first glance it seems like a tourist's guide, but when you listen deeper, The Island blossoms into something deeply personal and moving–a sonic imprint of places in relation to culture. One listen will put you right on a remote Island in the wilderness, surrounded by ancient trees and stories from generations long forgotten. 

The album features an analogue mix down and mastering on tape through a Studer A80, ½ inch tape machine by Stefan Betke of Scape Mastering. The Island is available on limited editions 2x12" black vinyl, CD, and digital formats.

'Imaginary Treasure Mountain' is inspired by old Georgian tales and legends. The old sayings say that underneath some mountains in Caucasus and Georgia, ancient treasure and heritage has been held for centuries. Many have tried to find the treasure but have failed. There have been several expeditions during the 19th and 20th centuries, in order to go to the bottom of specific mountains from caves, but always some hidden force was protecting the place and was against people going down. Native saying says that he who will find the treasure will gain access to ancient Georgian treasure as well as cosmic and earthly knowledge. This album is a journey to that place .
