Escapism is a theme that runs through the very heart of music. We listen to be transported, removing ourselves from our immediate surroundings as our senses relax and the sonic experience washes over us. During times of hardship, such a sensation is naturally magnified. Music gifts us a way out from our challenges, allowing us to choose how we feel in response to the sounds we hear. This theme has been explored meticulously by Audiojack over the past four years, resulting in the release of their second album, Surface Tension, on Crosstown Rebels this April. 

The pair described the meaning behind the album, encapsulating what inspired them to pursue the four-year project: “In the modern world our attention has become so fragmented with technological distractions. We wanted to create a piece of music that could be an escape from that, where someone can close their eyes and let their imaginations fill in the gaps that the other senses have left behind.” 

The journey sets off with Subterranea, a futuristic breaks-inspired cut that features shimmering female vocals throughout. It feels both euphoric and spacious, taking us to a world far removed from ours. The first collaborative effort comes next in the form of Under Your Skin. Released as the album’s lead single in February, Kevin Knapp’s weighty lyrical offering takes no prisoners, paving the way for the track’s punchy, percussion-heavy backbone. 

The American producer and vocalist is no stranger to the label, having collaborated with Audiojack previously on Implications as well as releasing Flipped on Crosstown’s sister imprint Rebellion. Binaural Dreaming soon arrives, plunging us into a sensory experience thanks to an array of worldwide field recordings, which simulate the experience of a dream. 925 Shift ups the pace, pairing resonant kick-hat combos against a myriad of robot-like synths whilst gentle keys chime softly in the background. 

Surreal yet familiar in one, it opens smoothly into Easy Rider, a groove-led, minimal laced dance number that transports us to brighter days with upbeat piano rolls and dream-like chords. Psychoactive pt. 1 continues the warming theme, delving further into tropical realms. Ethereal pads blend into pulses of acid to form an immersive auditory piece.

Get Physical strides into its 21st year with a reissue of one of its most iconic tunes. M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade's 'Body Language' has been remastered for the occasion and will be available on vinyl, as well as digitally and on streaming platforms for the first time ever, with new remixes from HOSH and Patrice Bäumel. 

M.A.N.D.Y. aka Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung, and Booka Shade, aka Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier, are Get Physical co-founders alongside DJ T., and 'Body Language' is one of the label's, as well as dance music's, biggest ever tunes. Released in 2005, it defined an entire generation of house music and spawned myriad copycats in its wake as well as making household names of the artists behind it. It became an instant classic that worked as well in cosy clubs as it did on festival main stages and it has remained an ever-green house anthem. The influential track has been sampled many times over the years but nothing beats the original. 

The chunky house drums still sound from the future today, with fleshy hits and warming bass. What makes it such a standout track, though, is the gorgeous melodic hook that rides up and down the scale. Those soft focus notes are full of subtle but playful soul that never fails to unify a crowd, bring smiles to faces, and get hands in the air. 

The first to remix is acclaimed German artist Patrice Bäumel. He is a master of stylish and deep house and techno with expressive synth work on labels like Kompakt and his own HALO. His superb version is a complete overhaul with deeper drums and a sense of late-night tension that is released in glorious fashion when the iconic melody comes in. It's the sort of tune that is suited to 4 am dance floors and will take things to the next level. The second remix comes from fellow German HOSH. For many years a core part of the Diynamic family he is also the founder of the fryhide imprint and an assured underground talent. He layers in some fresh and airy breakbeats to power along an expansive remix. After a long and atmospheric build with plenty of cosmic synth work, the original melody arrives during a breakdown and then plays out over the suspensory grooves. 

This is a superb package that brings a widely loved favourite back to the fore with contemporary remixes and a fresh remaster.

"Just" wastes no time locking the brisk rhythm into place before a wriggling earworm of a lead pans across the channels. Atmospheric swells are pieced by gatling-gun snares; the tension builds but never releases, making this a surefire precursor to the bulk of heavyweight set climaxes you're likely to hear this summer. [PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB] proudly presents its 74th release. Through the cold streets of Moscow’s twilight, flickering lights glide — neon traces connecting past and future. Chain Selector (@chainselector) makes his debut on [PIRANHA SIBERIA DUB] with a cinematic narrative told in six parts and three reflections: Moving Lights EP.

At the heart of the story lie six original tracks:

“White” opens the journey — like the first snow beneath a streetlamp, dissolving into shimmering echoes.
“Form” follows — a sound structure built like the architecture of a dream: restrained, precise, hypnotic.
“Winter” turns the air brittle like glass — a snowstorm dancing in sync with the bassline.
“Stoner” is a smoky, slowed-down hallucination, drenched in underwater reverb.
“Pulse” marks the EP’s inner heartbeat — the trembling nerve of a city felt beneath the skin.

 And — like that last cigarette at sunrise — Oldschool_Dubtechno .Producer (@enercube & @x_fr) delivers his NEDIPA Version of “Stoner”: thick, slow, and soaked in the flavor of six fragrant hops and emotional echoes that linger (a subtle nod to the namesake beer style, as rich as the remix itself).

Moving Lights EP is more than just a mini-album. It’s light in motion, traveling through darkness. Reflections from Moscow to Siberia. From yesterday into tomorrow. Fort Romeau's Cin Cin Records continues to go from strength-to-strength and for the label's 8th release the label has laid on a divine doubleheader from Melbourne's STATUE and Ara Koufax, and we're really excited to premiering Koufax's 'Natural States'.

Australian duo Ara Koufax (Luke Neher & Sam Gill) have been making club-facing house since 2014, introducing their new project with 'Brenda', which appeared on the Cut Copy-curated compilation 'Oceans Apart'.

The Australian duo are back with two new tracks on Fort Romeau's Cin Cin Records.

 'Natural States' is a playful cut of psychedelic acid house, which features a smorgasbord of jittery stabs, thickly set kicks and plenty of gloopy basslines for you to really get lost in.

"When we were making ‘Natural States’, we kept laughing and asking each other “Is this a bit much?” and head-banging while recording all the parts. It’s a loving tribute to the intersection of Serious Club Music and the deliberately obnoxious," explains the duo to DJ Mag via email.
