It’s been two years since Stefan Z last released on this label, but the three tracks he serves up prove the wait has been more than worth it.

The Berlin based Canadian is the boss of the Rhombus label and is a top electronic production talent. He makes his sounds stand out with slick vocals or moving melodic elements, most likely because of his formally trained piano and trumpet playing skills. He’s had support from the likes of Sasha, Solomun and Adriatique, and his label parties in Vancouver were key in developing the city’s underground scene.

The super title track goes first and is a freaky number with spacecraft circling the groove, building tension in the melodic riffs and futurism in the drums. It’s a dramatic track with heavy, lumpy kicks and one to jolt the floor into action.

‘Borni’ is another long and involving tune, this time with more mystery and suspense in the way it builds. The drums get you marching as synths and ghoulish motifs pan about to creepy effect. It’s a real set building track that keeps you on edge.

Lastly, ‘Cipe’ is the toughest of the lot, with stiff hits and withering cosmic chords speaking of an intergalactic war. Underpinned by warm bass, it’s a widescreen cinematic affair with real beauty in the pads that eventually take over the show.

All three tracks here are mini epics that really take you on a trip.

Chained to a ladder: There’s no way up. There’s no way down. You’re hung on a rung and there’s there no place to escape as Dino Lenny delves into your innermost psyche with this heavy slice of pedigree Italian electronica. A Darkroom Dubs debut from the original craftsman, ‘Chained To A Ladder’ is ominous in its mood and tone, dramatic in its new romantic vocal style and uncompromised with its devilish analogue aesthetic.

Remix-wise we’re unquestionably spoilt as label bosses Silicone Soul unleash their first production of the year with an immense 9+ minute cosmic bluesy stew, cooked slow and low with deep psychedelic flavours. A version that develops the original’s story in a stark way; this is what remixes were invented for.

Last but not least, Dino seals the deal with ‘The Right Place’. A broken drum mutant powered by technoid rocket fuel, its breakbeats drive a writhing groove that’s awash with touches of classic electro, new beat and hardcore with dark broadsword bass sweeps. Splashed with sudden blasts of synth colour, Dino’s signature sense of contrast is visceral, focused and direct. A true homage to every genre’s foundations and salute to the future; tremors can be felt from techno to drum & bass.

As the recently released ‘Darkroom Dubs Volume IV’ celebrated the last few years of releases, Dino sets the scene for another exciting chapter for the label. A chapter that will see the label continue to explore its signature atmospheric late-night sounds and celebrate its 15th anniversary this year. We’ll leave you hanging right here…

Rewind to 88/89: the heady haze of two culture-accelerating summers commence and music, youth culture, fashion, and society are changed forever. All change: A paradigm shifting gift from our original dancefloor forefathers, a new fire of unity, musical togetherness and sense of creative adventure was lit. And it’s our duty – whether you’re old enough to have been there at the start, or joined the movement at any point in between – to keep those fires burning.

Fast forward to 2018: Silicone Soul’s Darkroom Dubs take the torch and tend the flames in their own unique way with this timely seasonal dispatch. Building on the foundations dug 30 years ago, ‘Darkroom Dubs Presents Summer Love’ eschews any sense of nostalgia in favour of a celebration of the original principals that have shaken club walls ever since. And it does so with a spirited sense of unity as five firm label friends return bearing timeless gems that are fine-tuned to complement any summer selection scenario from 88 to 2048...

Long-time label brothers-in-arms, Of Norway light the embers with the poetically titled, ‘She Never Lost A Passenger’. Unrelenting kicks, slinky filtered bass, a powerful one-word vocal, subtle rolling breaks and a sudden drop into a classic M1 hook all wrapped up in a Balearic bundle of bliss; it’s the perfect start to a unifying storm.

Freska follows with another farsighted slice of freedom. ‘R.U.N’ continues the rich vein of Darkroom Dubs form he’s been building for over six years with a shimmering piano riff, hip-slinking conga hypnosis and all manner of trippy textures. Meanwhile, more psychedelic wonders can be found in ‘Infinite Interchange’, courtesy of seasoned summer lover Justin Robertson. Denting the Deadstock 33s dials for an ageless 808-melting acid house workout, it’s a sweet taste of what’s to come as the label prepares for his forthcoming vinyl release, ‘Music Is Madness (To Those Who Cannot Hear It)’ due at the end of August.

Skinnerbox are also on tease duty as they set us up for their own forthcoming Darkroom Dubs release, ‘Music For The Sad & Rainy Open Air’ that’s due in late July. Embodying the Balearic spirit with birdsong and Kenyan chorus, ‘Nyeusi’ squeezes their soul machines with class, subversion and a spirit that would sit just as well in a field off the M25 30 years ago or Ushuaïa today.

Finally, we’re whisked away in a fog of Argentinian cosmicity as venerable Buenos Aires selector Mariano Mellino allures us into a deep, extensive progressive trip. Introversion levels set to stun, ‘A Little Cloud Walker’ reminds us of the fine art of restraint, patience and guaranteed higher levels.

Authentic not nostalgic; ‘Darkroom Dubs Presents Summer Love’ celebrates our shared dancefloor inheritance. A bottomless melting pot, a sense of adventure, a love for the unknown and, most importantly, a feeling that everyone around you understands that too. Feel rooted, move forward together... We need to keep these fires burning.

Thirteen years after Quarion released the instant classic "Karasu" on Drumpoet, he returns to the label with yet another remarkable debut. His first album "Shades" takes you on an emotional journey to the deeper realms of House Music encompassed by elements of Detroit
Techno, Dub and Electronica. All of the nine tracks fully display Quarion's unmistakable musicality and state-of-the-art production skills and are, undoubtedly, the artist's most accomplished work to date. Ever since starting to produce as Quarion back in 2006, Yanneck Salvo has enjoyed an exciting career with stellar releases on Retreat, Innervisions, Tamed Musiq and certainly Drumpoet. 2016 proved to be a turning point artistically as well as personally, which eventually triggered an outburst of inspiration consolidating in the core of "Shades". After two years spent on refining this music, Yanneck felt that the bond between the tracks was too strong to be split across various EPs and chose instead to elaborate his vision as a full-scale album. The nine pieces that make up “Shades“ are quintessential Quarion, yet their scope is both broader and more precise than on previous releases by the Swiss producer. The beautiful melancholy of “Indigo (Aries)”, the rich layers of “Periwinkle” or the panoramic journey of “Cobalt (Plains)” are testimonial to the new depth in the music of the Berlin-based artist.
In addition, the album has highly benefitted from a more experimental writing process, showcased in the bass-heavy ambient piece “Teal” or the sliding pads of “Ultramarine”. This passion for unrestrictive creativity is clearly at the heart of “Azure (Émotion)”, a thrilling collaboration with Ripperton where both artists twist life out of a modular system.
Finally there are tracks as intense as the Acid workout “Sapphire (Tessellate)“ and the techno-influenced “Cerulean“. Their electric tension easily creates a watershed moment on the dance floor that lingers long after the night is gone. An imperceptible thread lays within the album's tracks. It molds “Shades” into an outstanding
album by an artist on top of his game, highlighting Quarion's ever-growing talent for producing music of the deeper kind.

Jozef K strides into 2020 with his long awaited debut album on the iconic Nite Grooves label. Entitled Battle, it is a confident and comprehensive 10 track affair that showcases his emotive, unique and meticulous sound.

Jozef K is a very real talent with a unique sound - combining melodic house elements with futuristic soundscapes, Chicago house and early U.K. rave/jungle nostalgia. All drawing from the same emotive palette. He has been releasing music in such a manner for years now, garnering constant high-profile press support and DJ backing from major tastemakers who reach for his tracks. The single from this album Ladies & Gentlemen We Are In Descent, exemplifying this with personal support from prominent underground figures - DJ Seinfeld, Laurent Garnier, Brame & Hamo, Levon Vincent, Lauren Flax and many more.

In 2020, he will offer his most accomplished release schedule to date across labels such as Rawax, Sasha's Last Night On Earth, Lossless, Constant Circles, new atmospheric jungle material under his Bluematter alias and a collaboration with Tin Man. In the midst of all that, however, is this masterfully crafted 10 track debut album on Nite Grooves, the long running and legendary US label. This ambitious full length is further expansion into his unique sound; a roller coaster of emotions through house, ambient and jungle. Restriction opens the album with deeply immersive ambience, soft drums and muffled spoken words, hinting at the excitement that is to come. Inhale/Exhale is a dreamy, lo-fi house trip. Indigo Isabelline follows with pure, hypnotic deep house bliss, utilising dusty drums and ethereal pads. Track 4 - Tokyo Harmonic Sequence, is an expertly stripped back deep techno cut featuring haunting vocals, brooding bassline and atmospheric soundscape textures.

After the rave nostalgic feeling of L-O-V-E, with its warehouse breakbeats and far-sighted chords, heavily coveted album single Ladies & Gentlemen We Are In Descent is an ethereal, acid track perfect for a sunrise moment. The smooth and seductively deep atmospheres continue onto the cavernous, hard hitting T.2.A.T.D.before an all out jungle assault via Caught A Glimpse Now It Haunts Me, combining breakbeats, sirens and Reese bassline to maximum effect. This track would not be out of place on a Bluematter record. Penultimate track, Golden Galaxies Made Of Light is an otherworldly, pensive, ambient moment, guiding the listener into the stunning, emotive closer Sunrise MCR, which is Jozef’s way of bringing this masterful record home to his beloved city.
A standout debut album from a unique producer.
