mélodie melak's experimental electronic project centres on the awareness of the inner life of plants. It consists of self-made synthesizers that are hooked up to an array of plants. Each plant produces its own timbre in response to the oscillator being plugged into it. The plants modulate the frequency they produce live. Melak composes with this living and ever morphing sound, combining it with the polyphonic drones of a shruti box and her voice.

Anna Meredith is a composer, producer and performer of both acoustic and electronic music.  Her sound is frequently described as ‘maximalist’ ‘uncategorisable’ and ‘genre-hopping’ and straddles the different worlds of contemporary classical, avant pop, electronica and experimental rock. 

Her music has been performed everywhere from the BBC Last Night of the Proms to flashmob body-percussion performances in the M6 Services, PRADA fashion campaigns, numerous films, installations and documentaries, pop festivals, clubs and classical concert halls worldwide and broadcast on Radio 1, 2, 3, 4 & 6.

She has been Composer in Residence with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, RPS/PRS Composer in the House with Sinfonia ViVA, the classical music representative for the 2009 South Bank Show Breakthrough Award and winner of the 2010 Paul Hamlyn Award for Composers.

Her recent piece Connect It was written for the BBC’s award winning Ten Pieces scheme which involved half of all UK Primary school children working on Connect It as well as Anna leading broadcasts, workshops and performances including at Radio 2’s Proms in the Park to 40,000 people.

 Anna's two EPs - Black Prince Fury and Jet Black Raider were released on Moshi Moshi Records to critical acclaim including Drowned in Sound's Single of the Year.

She performs with her band of classical musicians and a line up of Anna on clarinet and electronics plus two cellists, electric guitar, tuba and drums.  They have performed everywhere from Latitude to Ether festivals, la Gaîté Lyrique, Le Guess Who to classical music festivals and residencies.  

Recent projects have included collaborations with Laura Marling and The Stranglers for the first 6Music Prom, commissions for the Aurora Orchestra, Scottish Ensemble, Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and Living Earth Duo, Installations for Sleep-Pods in Singapore and Park Benches in Hong Kong and the world's first Concerto for Beatboxer and Orchestra.

The two day festival eavesdrop presents contemporary electronic music and sound art from more than a dozen outstanding Berlin-based and international artists. Taking place at silent green’s Betonhalle, the festival’s 3rd edition uniquely brings together a group of adventurous composer/performers and installation artists that share a common practice in electronic sound composition whilst spanning a diversity of inter-related contemporary tendencies. Whether it’s multi-award winning Mariam Razaei’s exceptional turntablism, Ilpo Väisänen’s legendary DIY analogue electronics, Jasmine Guffond’s generative sound installation, Nina Garcia’s extraordinary electric guitar manipulations, Lottie Sebes’ AI voice synthesis or Oren Ambarchi, crys cole & Jessica Ekomane’s carefully curated music selections,  eavesdrop invites listeners to consider, from multiple perspectives, new social and technical developments in international music and sound cultures.

Gail Priest is a Sydney-based sound artist. Her practice involves sound design/composition for performance, installation and live laptop-based exploratory music. She is also a curator, writer and commentator on sound and media arts.

Her compositions exist in a liminal zone between song and soundscape. She is interested in exploring the timbre of the voice when filtered and effected—finding the point when it loses its ‘grain.’ She is similarly interested in the transformation of field recordings into new rhythmic and melodic material. It’s a continuing exploration of the relationship between the machinic and organic, the figurative and the abstract.

She has released 4 albums on her own label Metal Bitch, as well as releases on Endgame Records and Flaming Pines.
