Oh dear, 
here we are again 
I just can't bear this drag
of time and fog and doubt
Oh, the bother in my bones 

Four steps forward 
and twelve steps back 
We're a deleted scene
in a sci-fi dark fairy tale
We only ever get so far
into space, into the woods, 
it doesn't matter, we just get lost

Here we are once again
I know he's loving me 
in the way he's wired
every time he's near, 
knowing he will never be near 
in the way 
that distance doesn't win 

It's not his fault 
It's not my fault 
but it aches and aches 
and wears us out 

Day-drinking in my closet, 
shame-sharing my chardonnay
until kindly, 
I'm granted a perspective change,
a glimpse from the director's chair
I think about the value of deleted scenes 
and how we search them out,
in a certain mood
How they offer us insight
into the growth process of a creation.
a masterpiece 
They are proof of the learning curve, 
a raw moment in time
Deleted scenes are vital fragments
but they can't go all the way
I begin to think, just maybe
it's ok that we are not the final cut

Tonight, I release him 
with Love 
Table for one, please
And I promise myself 
this is progress 
I promise myself 
I will stop measuring my worth
with distance 

We can cast more characters into the lead
and still cherish what was cut
We are the directors, not a scene
We must stay loyal to the bigger picture 
and the Master
piece. (peace)
