Premiere: Chris Mitchell - Runners [FCT002]

Known for his hardware-harnessing live shows and acidic jams, the Bristol-based Miles Otto’s ‘Skitter’ EP is alive with propulsive electro rhythms and dreamy synth melodies. ‘CV Swizzly’  grabs your attention with its wistful analogue tones and percussive crunch, before a burbling bassline burrows through the arrangement, while the 303-laced ‘Vectron’ takes cues from Detroit electro with its menacing riffs and eerie synth drifts. ‘Skitter’ itself subtly reveals its details layer by layer, with crisp drum machine hits and low tones opening out into mystic harmonies, and Plant43 recasts ‘CV Swizzly’ in his distinct image, adding metallic synth bass and urgent keys to finish the EP in fine style.

Born in Istanbul, based in Aachen, @aykanakdag delivers us a set that goes back to his electro roots, having gathered his favorite artists work, alongside some new releases in the genre.

VIERNULVIER RECORDS drops "Quadric Surfaces," the latest LP by Hieroglyphic Being (Jamal R Moss) next month - a soundtrack for the abstract animation film "Parallel Spheres" and "Figures in Mynd" by visual artist Gabriela González Rondon. Premiered at the Videodroom/Film Festival Gent in October 2023, the film's surreal visuals found harmony with Hieroglyphic Being's psychonautic soundscapes which showcased an immersive blend of off-world frequencies and raw primal sounds.

We have already asked this before: When did you last listen to an entire electronic music album? Whether or not you are into such a treat, we highly recommend Roma Zuckerman’s “Phenomenon of Provincial Mentality” for your next degustation session. 

Coming soon on digital and (double) vinyl formats on the intelligent Russian label Gost Zvuk, the 11-track endeavour is an absolute showcase of the creativity and craft of the Krasnoyarsk-based virtuoso. We are not 100% sure if Roma managed to explore the entirety of his influences, but IDM, Minimal, Electronica, Experimental, Techno, and impossible-to-pigeonhole cuts set the scene for a true multi-sensorial journey.

Premiered here, "Extra Work", with its 156-BPM super frenzied gait, "harnesses a kind of pounding warehouse gabber energy with what sounds like a collage of shortwave radio voices". Too bad it is such a short track, a couple of extra minutes would be welcome here.

Introducing Slow Blink, the latest sonic venture from acclaimed producer Michael Claus, who this time pivots to a more raw, club-centric sound. Under this new moniker, Claus unveils a 5-track EP that radiates raw, rave-inspired energy, marking a stark contrast to his typically more ambient and introspective creations. This release is a resonant journey through overdriven drum machines and subaquatic electro, meticulously crafted for the pulsating heart of the dance floor.

The EP showcases two original tracks by Slow Blink, where Claus delivers a frenetic concoction of saturated rhythms and kaleidoscopic melodies, interwoven with iridescent atmospheres that pulse with vibrant intensity. These are complemented by a special rave edit, a high-energy rendition that intensifies the originals' dynamic energy and is perfect for peak club moments.

Complementing Claus' originals, the EP features two striking remixes by Farsight and Pteron, adding an extra layer of depth to the EP. Farsight's interpretation infuses a bass-heavy rhythm, transforming the original into a breakbeat-driven powerhouse, enriched with a new dimension of funk and bounce.
