Brouqade & Friends Mix Series 009_ Julietta

"I think sounds that echo or move like waves across our ears and brains have always resonated across our universe. I'd like to think that this sphere we live on is always in motion and is traveling through our cosmos along with hypnotic vibrations that are still filtering out from the big bang. This mix was recorded live at a  warehouse for iykykhifi here in SLC. The empty room that slowly filled to a dancing crowd was perfect to play tracks with intricate sound design and lots of stereo field goodness. This mix was an attempt to capture the way I would want sounds to wash over me especially when being sent out through some tasty Klipsch speakers,setting the mood for a night of techno. I hope you enjoy!"

Club Chow is a Taiwanese-American DJ based in Chicago. An omnivorous selector, he blends music across genres and eras with a common undercurrent of euphoric energy and playfulness. He expresses his range via DJ residencies at Steamworks Baths and Dim Sum and Drag, and his work as founder/curator of the Forbidden Fruitz queer day party at Beauty Bar. Club Chow's taste and versatility have brought them behind the decks at notable Chicago nightclubs such as SmartBar and Podlasie Club, as well as around the US - playing underground parties in Brooklyn, San Francisco, Seattle, and Atlanta.

Starting at the age of 13 with a crate of his big brothers records DJ Matpat has taken the time to develop a sound of his own rooted in House Music, all the while acquiring a wide breadth of musical knowledge to underpin his ethos of "playing the right song for the right moment". As a producer he has released on a range of different labels including Derrick Carter’s Persnickety All Stars & Stretch Armstrong's Plant Music. Mat's productiuons have gained support from djs such as Kerri Chandler (dropping "Everybody Rise" on the Essential Mix), Laurent Garnier, Blessed Madonna, Maya Jane Coles, Fred P, DJ Sprinkles, Jamie Jones, Skream, Lucy, Joris Voorn, & Busy P among others.

Between fronting his label CLUBBY BOY & continuing his 9 year running party CLUB CONGRESS in both Philadelphia and New York, 2024 is looking to be an exciting year for the American producer.

American artist Introspekt (@sageintrospekt) has a sound rooted in the darker side of UKG but comes at it from a unique perspective that incorporates elements of US garage and ballroom. The LA-born, NYC-based talent has now made her mark in Europe as a DJ and a producer on labels like Eris Drew and Octo Octa's T4T LUV NRG. Her style blends heavy basslines, diva vocals and well-crafted broken beats into something that harks back to the sounds that once came out of the likes of Paradise Garage and Club Zanzibar, always with a focus on bringing up her own community.

She says that the idea behind this week's mix was "to take the listener on a journey through tech-garage sonics and intergalactic dancehall rhythms." Tracks of her own and those from Skream, Holloway, Hatcha, Phuturistix and many more all plot a line through earth-shatteringly heavy rhythms from across the past, present and future of garage, dubstep and bass. It's a mix aimed at both body and head from this formidable talent and is a great taste of what to expect from her when she plays Dekmantel Festival later in the year.
