My guest for September’s edition of Super Best is https://soundcloud.com/cassakura - Cass has become a mainstay in the Calgary scene in the past few years, regularly playing parties like In Plain Site, Cutting Shapes, Versions and more. It just so lined up that she would be in town for this month’s show : ) 

Bio: Cassandra Safran is a multidisciplinary creative based out of Calgary AB. She finds fluid moments as a floral designer, student of sensory design, poet, herbalist, free skier, and DJ. She has been involved in Calgary/western Canada’s underground electronic scene for over a decade, and has been an active DJ for the last 4+ years. Cassafran’s career has been fostered and encouraged by ClubHaus, Hifi Club, Minimal Skids, Cutting Shapes, and Window Kids collectives, and she plays shows frequently in Calgary and peripheral area. Cass primarily plays deep house, techno, and minimal techno adjacent sounds with cuts of jazz, acid, breaks, and ukg, with each set curated to context. 

Cassafran is working towards curating her own events in unlikely locales, and looks forward to playing sets of ranging energies in intentional environments in the meantime.

innezz is a prominent figure in Vancouver's underground nightlife, known for her dynamic DJing style that sets dancefloors on fire with a diverse range of music. She has opened for various renowned artists and is expanding her reach across North America, while also showcasing her passion for minimal and techno sounds from the North African diaspora through her radio show 'Azul Radio' and upcoming record label, blending it with her love for dance music and beyond.

With his oldest roots stretching back to classical piano and guitar, he started producing his own records in 2011. However, it wasn’t until 2013 that his true vocation began to emerge, fueled by the world of electronic music. His early involvement with Hydrive Shows opened doors to gigs and fostered a sense of community - the driving force behind his engagement in the midwest DJ scene. From house parties to popular clubs and venues in the Twin Cities, it has always been more about sharing the love for music rather than an ego driven venture. 

His sets are a seamless blend of house, techno, UKG, and leftfield beats, characterized by their rhythmic grooves and diverse tempos. A significant stint at Dubzoo in London, UK, in the mid-2010s, cemented his love for the underground electronic music scene and shaped his professional ethos.

A decade into his craft, Andrew is a studio owner at Origin 414 and contributes to the evolving landscape of the Midwest dance music scene through events like Enigma and Decadance. Co-founded with Mike Johnson & Louis Quicksell, he opened Eunoia Studios, a digital agency dedicated to empowering independent artists through digital products and immersive physical experiences.

Described as “club veteran” in one of Resident Advisor's picks of the week, Firestone (@kyle-firestone) is the host and resident DJ of ‘Polari: A Queer Agenda;’ a more-than monthly event series hosted at venues around the city including The Barbary, Warehouse on Watts, B. West (Franky Bradleys), and more. Polari is genre-blending, occasionally themed, and always queer. As such, Firestone is always on their toes cutting their teeth to new genres and styles of music. Aside from nightlife, Firestone grew up as a trained vocalist, a novice flautist, and is an engineer by day.
