Registrato in presa diretta durante una sessione in sala prove nel febbraio 2023, I’m a Man dei FACTORY mark II è un’esplosione viscerale di energia garage rock. Il brano, storicamente legato a Spencer Davis Group e poi ai Chicago Transit Authority, viene qui reinterpretato con spirito crudo, selvaggio, e dichiaratamente analogico. Nessuna sovraincisione, niente plastica digitale: solo valvole roventi, sudore e amplificatori al massimo.
La voce di Giuliano Dettori è rabbiosa e teatrale, con un piglio da predicatore laico, mentre la chitarra di Davide Spanu sputa riff fuzzati e assoli taglienti come coltelli. Il groove di Chris Pain al basso è secco e nervoso, perfettamente incastrato nella batteria incalzante e garage di Luca Monaco. Ma è Silvio Vinci, con il suo Hammond impastato e feroce, a dare quel tocco “blues moderno” che distingue il suono FACTORY: un ponte tra mod inglese e psichedelia moderna.
Rimasterizzato oggi con cura ma senza snaturarne la grana grezza, il brano conserva tutta la tensione elettrica dell’originale sessione del 2023. Nessun compromesso: solo cinque musicisti che affermano, con convinzione, di essere uomini. Di essere vivi.
