Throwing Snow presents ‘Glower’, the second in a series of three EPs of club-focused yet melody-soaked tracks that are “built for the summer, yet seen through a wintery prism,” and have formed the recent backbone of his ever-changing live set. Its predecessor ‘Lumen’ found its way into the sets of DJs ranging from Four Tet to Sasha, and ‘Glower’ looks set to have a similarly broad appeal.

The title track features lush synths and dizzying harmonics, with the propulsive 4/4 carried along with Throwing Snow’s characteristic percussive flourishes.

February 2016 sees the 3rd anniversary of Houndstooth, and the label mark this with their 50th release. ‘Tessellations’ is a compilation of brand new, exclusive tracks from each of the 14 artists to release on the label.

The release serves to simultaneously trace common threads and highlight tensions within such a stylistically expansive roster.

Presented on a double CD and digitally, ‘Tessellations’ charts a path from Guy Andrews and Aïsha Devi’s widescreen soundscapes and the offbeat electronic pop of 18+ and Snow Ghosts, through the analogue 4/4 pulse of Marquis Hawkes and Shift Work, to Akkord and Special Request’s visceral re-imagining of hardcore.

Tracks from Call Super, Throwing Snow and Second Storey occupy those hard-to-define – yet often most exciting – spaces in between, gluing together the selection along with contributions from House of Black Lanterns, Soft as Snow and _Unsubscribe_.

Brighton, UK collective LOYAL veers gently away from digital-heavy production in their new Fleetwood Mac inspired single "Patterns That Fall," out today. Exchanging more standard house structures for organic instrumentation, they've added a coziness to their sound while maintaining classic LOYAL tropes like funky bass-lines and hazy, enchanting vocals. The result of their deftly layered production is cross-genre appeal that has earned them comparisons to The xx, James Blake, and Rhye.

Headed up by James Day, Laurence Allen, and Alex Cowan, LOYAL first started expanding their line up with "House For You," teaming up with local Brighton artist Beth Molly Moore, a successful experiment that eventually led into the current seven-piece.​​​​​​​ "Patterns That Fall" is the second single from LOYAL's forthcoming EP (out December 7th). It follows "Everything (She)," A disco-house / pop-funk hybrid that glimmers with fresh energy and a hint of nostalgia. The decidedly chill and more ambient "Patterns That Fall" sees LOYAL stretching beyond their usually territory, opening up possibilities for the group in the future. "We can chop and change every time we write a song, which is really exciting for us," Laurence told Billboard in an interview. The track came to fruition one reflective Monday morning. "The lyrics and music came to us incredibly naturally. Almost like a stream of consciousness from both sides. The song represents us as human beings falling through our limited time here; The binary code happening behind our endless social media scrolling, even the rain as it falls. In that reflective Monday morning mood it felt as though everything in life was a mere pattern falling with little direction or rule. The comfort is to know we are all experiencing the exact same thing - and embracing that is all we can do."

LOYAL sprang to life in 2016 with their critically lauded debut single "Blue & The Green," which led to band members James Day, Laurence Allen, and Alex Cowan quickly becoming BBC Radio 1 darlings. Released via London label GOOD YEARS - the folks behind BANKS, Lil Silva, and Yellow Days - LOYAL found themselves in good company when it comes to artists on the edge of what's next.

When you put on the first track on the album ”Antisocial Background” by Mythologen your likely to think: “this is THAT kind of an album”, and fell happy with that. But Mythologen aka Alexander Palmestål is not “THAT” kind of an artist and this album reflects his broad musical background. It spans from Japan to USA, from the 70s to the 00s and from cold concrete floors to fluffy cotton clouds. Palmestål, with a background in bands such as Pistol Disco and Iberia now releases his second full-length album on Höga Nord Rekords.
The album is a play with emotions and genres, with unexpected meetings between major and minor keys and is a collection of tracks where Jungle, Electro, House, Synth and Big Beat are deconstructed and put together as relevant contemporary dance music. The production on “Antisocial background” sometimes sound like a more electronic version of Boredoms but most of the time it puts the listener on the British isles and in the 90’s. Palmestål pays respect to his masters but he is not in any way too careful with their legacy and let, just as on his debut album, influences from the 1970’s and 80’s Nigeria and Soweto. This is nicest anti-social music ever. This is Mythologen.

Breaking their run of EPs on International Feel, Lauer and Fabrizio Mammarella reunite as Black Spuma with a trio of cuts on Futureboogie Recordings. The title track, is a throbbing, pulsating, bit-crunching beast of a track. A full mind and body workout that evokes the darker shades of early acid and new beat. 'Agguato' also packs a punch, with heavy drums sequences resonating throughout, whilst waves of hedonistic tones cut through feint melodicas and space invader tropes for a mind melting moment.
