Announcing forthcoming album ‘Bring Out The Sound’, their first in five years, legendary live hip hop outfit The Herbaliser present single ’Seize The Day’ featuring London vocalist Just Jack.

Haunting orchestral and cinematic atmospheres underpin Just Jack’s distinctive Camden twang, which makes way for uplifting trumpets and strings (arranged by Ninja Tune legend Chris Bowden) worthy of a Bond theme as the track builds and builds.

Best known for his 2007 anti-pop anthem ‘Starz In Their Eyes’ which reached number 2 in the UK charts, London vocalist Just Jack has issued 3 well received studio albums, last year releasing ‘Life Lessons’, his first new material in over seven years.

Issued on independent label BBE, home to many a musical trailblazer, perhaps most notably J Dilla, ’Bring Out The Sound’ is scheduled for release in February 2018. Jam-packed with that trademark, horn-laden Herbaliser goodness, the album is further bolstered by standout vocals from Rodney P, Stac & Mark Keds.

On his debut mini-album, ​I’m Never Really Here​, ​darvid thor (The Cactus Channel, Frida, Karate Boogaloo) explores what it’s like to make music alone. After playing and writing in bands for over a decade, ​I’m Never Really Here​ is darvid’s first solo venture, and it finds real solace in the solitary.

These songs might seem just dreamy on first listen, with their meandering guitar lines and warm, woozy synthesisers, Thor’s voice at turns a light falsetto and a warm tenor but ​I’m Never Really Here handles material that’s sometimes heavy with a light touch. At times anxious and quietly anguished, tender and candid, these are songs about a growing-up, a breakup, and everything in between. There are traces of Darvid’s soul influences and undergrad jazz degree here, but most present are the wide array of indie and alternative acts that have been influencing his singing, playing, and production: catchy and understatedly complex, these songs both sparkle and stutter.

Darvid recorded ​I’m Never Really Here ​alone in his bedroom — but for some drum/percussion help from Cactus Channel bandmate Hudson Whitlock on lead single ​“Rest of Your Life” and drum production from housemate Max Dowling (Yelderbert, Tetrahedra) on ​“overgrown” — over the course of a year or so. Having spent most of his musical career as an integral member of The Cactus Channel and Frida, Thor saw a solo project as an exhilarating, if daunting opportunity to learn more about himself, as a musician and as a person.

His sweet melancholy of jangly guitars and warbled synthesizers have afforded support from ​Beach Fossils​, ​Danger Mouse​, ​Double J​, ​Triple J Unearthed and ​Indie Shuffle, to name a few. Live, Darvid expands his setup to a four-piece band including Lewis Coleman, Levi Heeringa & Hugh Rabinovici.

Frankie Cosmos - Dancing

Mahamudra is a form of Tibetan meditation that I have been practicing for the past 6 months - the basic idea is to watch your thoughts, emotions and sensations, and then to watch the watcher of those things, and to basically keep stepping back until you kind of dissolve who you think you are and arrive into this mental space of really deep peace and clarity.  In a way, that’s the effect I want my music to have on people - to make them lose themselves in a moment and just be totally present to the here and now.  I named this record “Mahamudra” because there are no lyrics - no words or labels to distract the listener from the actual music - and the intention of the music itself, which uses a lot of eastern elements and motifs, is to lift you into that place of inner peace and freedom that has been explored by so many great sages and mystics from that part of the world.

Monteagle is the solo moniker of Justin Giles Wilcox - best know as chief songwriter in Nassau and now defunct Tennessee band Moonlight Bride. The later of which had some early looks, collapsing just on the brink of break out success. Paste Magazine calling Wilcox’s delivery in a “Best of What’s Next” feature “tremulous, bare-souled vocals, which are as haunted and alluring as the caves that riddle the rocky hills of the band’s hometown.” Monteagle, named for a mountain inside those hills marks a re-birth for the now well seasoned indie rock vet. Expanding on the more ethereal, dreamy inclinations of past work into something closer to the history of those hills.
