What happens if you mess around on Garage Band after a few beers to celebrate a victory...  Sorry for the language - a bit fruity!!!

Lyrics are based on a traditional Sheffield United fans' song mocking their rivals from South Barnsley.  The "Hi Ho" infill pokes fun at Wednesday's "anthem" set to Hi Ho Silver Lining.  The references to players in the lyrics come from a period under Dave Basset and then Warnock when the Blades were dominant in the Sheffield football hierarchy (they are once more).  Older fans may recognise the references. The City Is Ours!

Despite the drunken nature of this recording, I'm secretly quite pleased with the bassline. It's an acoustic guitar, mic'd up to and fed into an iMac running Garage Band.  The tone has then been tuned down to make it a deeper sound.

If I Had The Wings Of An Eagle

This is a WIP. It's a chord progression I often end up strumming when I pick up a guitar. I started to play around with middle 8, verse and chorus sequences but so far I've not been able to find the lyrics to go with it.  

One day I may finish it.

Another cover (don't lie, you couldn't tell could you?!).

A rock classic this time.  I think the tracks got a bit misaligned on Garage Band about 10 seconds in.  Strangely preferred it that way so left it as it was.

Knocking On Heaven's Door

Messing about on Garage Band with my teenage son after a great away victory at Colchester United and hearing the "Everywhere We Go" chant for the first time.  Added some background tracks from some great commentaries on famous Blades' victories including Tony Currie's iconic goal against West Ham, Phil Jagielka against Leeds from 40 yards, Michael Brown against Wednesday and finally Brayford scoring to put us in the FA Cup Semi final.

To give them their full title, Button Moon and The Magic Moon Monsters were formed during lectures at Sheffield Polytechnic (now Sheffield Hallam University). We never played live but had a lot of fun practicing in a basement under a music store on Sheffield's London Road.

My rather poor rendition of Iggy Pop's Passenger. This song was the first cover the band I was in at Uni played live. To be honest I was an even worse guitar player back then, in 1990-91. How to empty a pub's back room in just over two minutes.

Beautiful Ones

A few tracks I've written or covered over the years whilst messing about on Apple's Garage Band app, sometimes under the influence (that's my excuse!).

Each track is me on guitar, keyboards and (sort of) vocals. Bass is an acoustic mic'd up then the tone adjusted on Garage Band (maybe I'll buy an actual bass guitar one day). Drums are programmed on the drum machine instrument on Garage Band.

It's rubbish, but it's my rubbish.
