Dr. Funk, by the soul jazz group organissimo, was penned in early 2011. This song is on the organissimo CD 'Dedicated' and was written to honor  the memory of Grand Rapids saxophonist Wilton Machen. Wilton was a larger than life persona on the jazz & gospel scene in West Michigan and one of the funkiest tenor players to ever pick up a horn. organissimo originally planned to record this song with Wilton but he unfortunately passed away suddenly during the summer of 2011.
