Over 10 years ago now Rough Tempo Radio was host to some of the very best Breaks artists around, although now Rough Tempo now delve into more of the Drum and Bass type of sound but back in February of 2011 Krafty Kuts dropped an exclusive 2 hour LIVE mix full of new edits and remixes of the time. What you hear now is the end result, enjoy ! :-)

I managed to grab the audio from a lot of the Rough Tempo sets back then as they were always put up as a video which you could stream off the Rough Tempo website, this is one of the mixes i grabbed.

My good friend Geordy Carson booked me to play Live at Fozzy Fest in 2012 as Elite Force. It was a heavy weekend that involved shows in Denver, Philadelphia and in the Kananaskis mountains, two hours outside of Calgary ... not to mention two transatlantic flights and 72-hours of sleep deprivation!

Fozzy Fest was epic. Set in incredible mountain surroundings, it was like a small-scale version of Shambhala, built with love and forged through community. This high-quality recording of the event suddenly materialized through the ether in 2021 ... and it's really not bad at all! 

This was an interesting time for music - this set is a journey through multiple genres and is very much about sustaining a real sense of peak-time energy.

Many of the photographers have their idents on the photos I used to piece this tribute to FozzyFest together. Their work is inspiring and exceptional, so please check them out via the FozzyFest Facebook page.

DJ Dan presents Stereo Damage - Episode 53 (Mark Farina Guest Mix)

A live radio tribute mix recorded about 20ish years ago on a West London station “Interbeats FM”. Going back in time – this recording is from one of my regular Sat afternoon radio shows, where I attempted to capture at least some of the essence of one of the best clubs I ever had the privilege of attending between 1993-95 – Club UK in Wandsworth, South London.

I loved the techno room, but this mix is more focussed on the sound of the middle room, that was the spiritual home for our crew - or the “carpet room” as we used to call it. The music was more progressive house/euro house/early trance based. Magical times and magical memories for anyone who was lucky enough to be there 😊

I hope you enjoy the mix, recorded live on vinyl and at times some muffled chat due to a dodgy mic (sorry about that!) but hopefully the music makes up for it. Much love – especially to any Club UK peeps out there, Colin x

Lanx and Nick Slater, aka the Drumattic Twins, have been a leading force in dance music since they first began touring over 20 years ago. Making their name as Shades of Rhythm, they ruled the early nineties rave scene with legendary anthems ‘Sweet Sensation’, ‘Sound of Eden’, ‘Extacy’ and ‘Homicide’ and performed with the likes of The Prodigy and N-Joi.

Since rebranding themselves as the Drumattic Twins in 1997, Nick and Lanx quickly replicated this global notoriety thanks to massive hit tracks ‘Feelin Kinda Strange’ ‘Twister’ and ‘HyperSpeed’. They teamed up with the legendary release platform Finger Lickin Records in 1999 and settled quickly into the close-knit world of the breakbeat scene, working alongside global acts such as Plump DJs, Soul of Man and Lee Coombs.

From a string of releases from 1999 starting with top the selling "Feeling Kinda Strange" till late 2013 with their "Get Up and Dance EP" on Sugarbeat Records and 2 full length albums in between the Drumattic Twins have laid down a variety of music that have influenced the Breaks Scene and shaped it in to what it is today.

This mix was an exclusive promo for Mighty Breaks, a club in San Francisco that promoted Breaks at that time.

Krafty Kuts & Skool Of Thought - Kiss 100 FM Breakbeat Show - 19.1.2002

Starting back in 1998 (I think) was the Kiss 100 FM Breakbeat Show hosted by Danny McMillan a true advocate of the breakbeat genre from it's early beginnings and who even had his own label. This mix from 2002 is from Krafty Kuts & Skool Of Thought who at the time ran a night in Brighton UK called Supercharged, a place where the now dons of breakbeat used to play every weekend. The Supercharged night soon turned into a label and saw some of the best Nuskool Breaks tunes of the day. This is a pretty cool mix when tunes were a lot more simple.

In 2001 Ambar in Perth opened it's doors and I am honoured to have been the first international DJ to have played there. I played Ambar many more times but this was a particularly memorable night. Enjoy the heavyweight breaks!
