We Are One - My House Is Your House

A RE:CONSTRUCTED set is a *long* way removed from a standard DJ set. Here's how it works.

Simon takes hundreds of tracks from his huge library, painstakingly deconstructs them (using Ai if needed to separate elements from the original tracks), and then pieces everything back together to create a hugely emotive and immersive musical story.

He uses Ableton Live and multiple controllers to trigger up to 16 individual channels of audio at any one time during the performance, and also performs live keyboard overdubs. The end result is a hugely addictive, compulsive and compelling blend of music that's often new, often familiar but always utterly unique.

This is storytelling on a giant canvas, and in 2024 we will be adding visuals and further live instrumentation to these RE:CONSTRUCTED sets.

British-born Lee Coombs has been involved in the music industry since 1989, when he got his start at acid house parties in London and Cambridge. He went on to run several of his own labels including the legendary Thrust Recordings and collaborate with some of the most respected artists and producers in the world, combining breaks, house, electro, techno, and acid to create groundbreaking mixes in his own signature style. Coombs is a talented and innovative fan-favorite around the world, whether he’s releasing music through his own Thrust label or as part of the Lot49 team, or mesmerizing massive audiences filling dance floors from Australia to Burning Man. 2014 has been a busy year for Coombs! The massive single ‘Lilly in the Sky’ remained up the top of the Beatport charts for many months and has gone on to be one of the biggest selling Breaks tracks of 2014. The latest chapter in the CHPTR series took place on Saturday 8th November in San Francisco.
 
Definitely not one I'll forget as we decided to drive there from Denver at the last minute to avoid airport issues during the protracted government shutdown ... a round trip of 2800 miles with some absolutely splendid conversation and scenery en route.

The VOID system in the basement of Monarch was a joy to play on, and the packed house bought the vibes once again as only San Francisco can!

Pure Silence

The Glastonbury Festival is a five-day festival of contemporary performing arts that takes place near Pilton, Somerset, UK. In addition to contemporary music, the festival hosts dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and many other arts. Leading pop and rock artists have headlined, alongside thousands of others appearing on smaller stages and performance areas.

This mix was part of Annie Nightingale's Glastonbury Breakbeat Special back in June 2004.
