The concept was a simple one ... One DJ, One Room, All Night in exceptional surroundings with jaw-dropping visuals (installations, performance etc), decor, and sound all combining to create a unique, fully immersive experience all based around an extraordinary, one-off musical journey.

A big driver of this passion was the simple notion that when it comes to DJaying, it's all about the context - how you set moments up, how you create curves in your sets, of the peaks and the troughs, the deliberate breathers, the space to listen, to move, to engage with the sounds on a deeper level. It's how you present a track that makes it grow, that makes it hit home much harder than it could ever do in isolation. If we lose those skills, and people become disassociated with the concept of movement and context in a set, we wind up with what we're edging ever closer towards - a monochrome landscape of brick wall noise where there's no scope for growth, for exploration, for creativity.

VITAMINDEVO LIVE AT HEART PHOENIX BURNING MAN 2013 FRIDAY AM SUNRISE

Well *that* was something else. Truly.

This was the fourth successive year I'd played a sunrise on the Playa with my most excellent friends at the Nutz camp, and this year *everyone* upped the bar. The One Series (my vehicle for DJs to express themselves fully through uber-long sets) effectively sprang out of the love & passion for these ethereal mornings at Burning Man, so it seemed fitting that this would become One Playa Sunrise.

As with every year the sun was shining, everyone wore a vast, passionate smile with wonderful sights & sounds filling the air. We were joined by The Dusty Rhino & Painkiller, along with most of Distrikt. It was the perfect morning.

At the end, six intensely wonderful hours later, I dissolved into tears, not for the first time this week & the dancefloor submerged me. 

I hope it takes you there.

Time for some Techno! We're proud to share with you Ben Seagren b2b Tara Brooks just after sunset on Sunday night at our Desert Hearts Spring Festival 2014. After a blissed out Sunday day, we knew Ben was going to throw down some dark techno to bring in night. Even though some technical difficulties kept Ben from being able to play a proper set by himself, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise as he and Tara Brooks threw down one of the most psychedelic sets of the weekend. The seventh edition of The One Series: www.facebook.com/TheOneSeries took place in Los Angeles on Friday 28th February. Despite the biblical storms that lashed the city that day, a sell out crowd of 400 joined forces with our co-promoters The Cruz Coalition to create a spectacular journey of light & sound.

Simon Shackleton once again took to the decks for 6 straight hours, with guest appearances during the night from the excellent improv violinist, Maki Hsieh, and Lauren Shaw performing gravity-defying hoopla.

One. Epic. Night.

We bought some real heat to Denver in this, the 9th edition of the epic One Series parties. Working alongside The Fantastic Hosts and The Whomp Truck, we created a completely immersive experience at a warehouse space within City Hall.

The five-hour set (one of the shortest One Series to date) flew by, and once again I am hugely proud of the results. I hope you enjoy listening back as much as I enjoyed performing :)

The One Series is something special. Based around the simple concept of One DJ, One Room, All Night, it's a properly personal, musical journey, shared amongst friends, and a chance for DJ, VJ & crowd to fuel each other ... a chance to experience something magical, exceptional.

After a packed house back in March in LA, I once again teamed up with The Cruz Coalition to bring love and beats to a roomful of sunshine smiles as we took over the gorgeous off-grid warehouse space of The Syrup Loft.

Tropical Express Tour

Well, that was quite something.

Recovery mode has been initiated and rejuvenation is now complete. I just wanted to say a HUGE heartfelt thank you to every single one of you that came down, felt and shared the heart emoticon and made Saturday's One Series *such* a massive high.

I'd also like to thank The Public Works SF for being a joy to work with, Kevin Zhu from All of it Now for the stunning visual accompaniment, and Mad Dog from the beautiful steampunk stage design.

The One Series [SFO017] - Simon Shackleton - Publicworks San Francisco

The 18th One Series took place in Denver at a brand new annexe to City Hall.

We overcame one or two technical issues with ground loops & power outages in the early stages of the night, but triumphed thanks to all the hundreds of beaming souls who came out to play and made for such an impassioned evening.

A big thank you goes out to all the lighting & sound wizz-kids, and of course my good friends 'Surreal Laser' and 'The Fantastic Hosts'.

The One Series [MAN021] - Simon Shackleton - Joshua Brooks, Manchester

This was the final One Series show in a 5-year run of events that began at Cellspace in San Francisco back in 2012. 

These sets gave me a much-needed chance to breathe and to branch out from the peaktime headline shows I'd been playing for many years. They allowed me time to spread my wings musically and explore different tempos and different flavours and tell a story from cover to cover. They inspired me and kept me going at a time when I was deeply disillusioned by electronic music's move into the bubblegum candy-pop of the supersized McRave. 

I believe that music has the power to affect people deeply and that it can be felt on a spiritual level, and during these sets I always felt that connection profoundly. I'm proud of what I achieved with them and that a beautiful legacy remains.

This particular set had to be reconstructed from 2/3rds of the way through as the recorder malfunctioned, but I didn't want to leave the Final One unarchived, so here it is in all of it's 6-hours of glory.
