The origin of the main theme of this prelude is a progression I came up with while working on the Fantasy and the Nocturne in the same key. It couldn't fit in, but I found it very beautiful and had fruitlessly tried to find a composition where it could find a home. 
I admit it took me too long to realize that a new composition can be made from it, and it also took me too long to realize that another theme (the second one in the Prelude) I made at that time fits almost perfectly. All in all, I'm extremely pleased with the final result. 
There are almost jazzy (a friend had even said proggy) elements that work unusually well with the dark, almost folkloric ambiance.

Wiki says that daydream is a fantasy that a person has while awake.

Daydreaming is the stream of consciousness that detaches from current external tasks when attention drifts to a more personal and internal direction. This phenomenon is common in people's daily life shown by a large-scale study in which participants spend 47% of their waking time on average on daydreaming . There are various names of this phenomenon including mind wandering, fantasy, spontaneous thoughts, etc. Daydreaming is the term used by Jerome L. Singer whose research programs laid the foundation for nearly all the subsequent research in this area today. The list of terminologies assigned by researchers today puts challenges on identifying the common features of the phenomenon, in this case daydreaming, and on building collective work among researchers.

There are many types of daydreams, and there is no consistent definition amongst psychologists, however the characteristic that is common to all forms of daydreaming meets the criteria for mild dissociation. Also, the impacts of different types of daydreams are not identical. While some are disruptive and deleterious, others may be beneficial in some way.

Yes, I'm daydreamer. For this track I used acoustic guitar, oboe and clarinet, upright and supplement it with glockenspiel.

Simon Alami is a Canadian composer with a passion for blending different musical styles and traditions. He draws inspiration from master composers such as Ravel, Debussy, Bartok, Takemitsu, Stravinsky and others. Simon's compositional style is characterized by a fusion of diverse elements and a willingness to experiment with new forms of expression. Despite his job as a Manager at Hydro-Quebec, Simon dedicates his time to pursue his art and passion for classical music composition. He currently lives in Montreal, Canada and is a proud member of the Canadian League of Composers (CLC), Guilde des musiciens et musiciennes du Québec (GMMQ) and SOCAN.

Simon will be participating in the 5th edition of the Mostly Modern Festival at Saratoga Springs, NY June 2024
