The melody begins with the evocative sound of a Romanian caval, wistfully singing with authentic melancholy, accompanied by the mysterious tones of a bagpipe, all supported by rich African percussion, generated by tribal drums and tabla (an Indian pair of drums). This deep introduction sets the stage for a musical experience where the ancestral meets the contemporary.

As the piece progresses, the music becomes more introspective and contemplative, reflecting a soul filled with suffering and pain. This "dark mood" is not accidental; it speaks of inner struggles, of the pain and melancholy that sometimes weave through our lives. A therapeutic journey into a mix of jazz, classical, and a blend of types of electronica.  And a wry, gradual observation that promotion tends to only go as far as you push it.  At least I make my fellow musicians laugh a little.

Simon Alami is a Canadian composer with a passion for blending different musical styles and traditions. He draws inspiration from master composers. Simon's compositional style is characterized by a fusion of diverse elements and a willingness to experiment with new forms of expression. He currently lives in Montreal, Canada and is a proud member of the Canadian League of Composers (CLC), Canadian Music Center CMC and SOCAN.
