The Strangers is an existential, alt.-indie band from Long Island, New York, comprised of brothers, Peter and Christian Groffmann. The band’s “walk in the park” sound centers around the vocals and guitar of Peter (left on album), and the guitar and piano of Christian (right on album). 

In the spring of 2019, they released their debut album, Blithe, featuring 10 original songs and a cover of John Denver’s “Leaving on a Jet Plane.” Blithe ’s innocence and warmth are attributable to the combination of Peter’s romantic lyrics, and Christian’s sound engineering. They describe their genre as “art music, but alternative simplifies things.” The band recorded the album in their pastel yellow, makeshift home studio in between college semesters from 2017-2019.

The Stranger’s musical influences include Bob Dylan, John Denver, the Beatles, the Cure, and Tom DeLonge. The band’s message is derived from the wisdom literature of the Old Testament (Proverbs, Job, and Ecclesiastes), and the Gospels.
