The latest signing to Thomas Barnett’s Visillusion imprint is the up and coming Dutch DJ, Native 97 (Marijn Jansen). Coming from Utrecht, Native 97 starting DJing and crafting his unique style of “future house” & melodic techno from as early as 11 years old drawing inspiration from acts such as Depeche Mode, Orbital, & Prodigy to underground legends like Kerri Chandler, Oliver Heldens, & Tchami. This led to his first single “Move On” together with The Cynical & his first solo release “Frozen”, both garnering air-play on Sirius XM & many radio shows throughout Europe & abroad. Teaming back up with The Cynical in 2018, their “To The Deep” collaboration was also placed on many Spotify playlists.

Jump ahead to 2021, the COVID global pandemic gave Native 97 some extra time to produce & a break from DJing around Utrecht & Amsterdam… These unique circumstances allowed him to experiment and develop his melodic brand of techno & adopt a “mysterious vibe” into his colorful & artistic dance music. The product of all of this is the stunningly gorgeous title track “Levitate”.

Haunting & beautiful, “Levitate” takes the listener to dizzying heights while remaining locked into the groove. The careful ear will notice something a bit different with each time hearing it. 
This EP comes with some banging remixes by the likes of Lucien Foort, Eric de Man, & Paul Funk. Eric de Man’s “The Bass Is Silent remix” really pumps in any peak time setting, Lucien Foort’s remix flexes his trademark hypnotic funk perfectly, and the Paul Funk “Heavenly Dub” drives the bliss factor into overdrive with thumbing bass & sparkling glimmer. Native 97 also delivers the bonus track, “Gloaming”, a dance-floor treat that will also fascinate the senses with his signature melodic flavor.  All in all, there is something for everyone in this tight & refreshing melody-driven package…
