Martin Brodin is set to release a brand new EP titled 'Vicious Games' (a cover of the '99 hit by Yello) on Nang this Summer after a brace of successful remixes for the label. Brodin, from Sweden, rose to prominence back in 2011 when he was asked to remix Sky by The Human League, which was released on Wall Of Sound. He then went on to remix the legendary Giorgio Moroder and his classic record 'The Chase' from 1978.

Over the years Brodin's music has been personally selected for compilations by the likes of Claude VonStroke, Ben Watt, Carl Cox and Nick Warren. The producer started his MB Disco label in the fall of 2010 as an outlet for his music. The feedback from interested collaborators was instant, with releases and remixes from people such as Ilija Rudman, Ray Mang, Chicken Lips and Drop Out Orchestra. He continues to take his eclectic DJ styles as far as Tokyo, Dubai, Zurich, Kiev, Copenhagen and London.

'Vicious Games' is an electro-tinged synthpop stomper of a cover of the 1999 hit by Yello. It features heavy house beats and a bold vocal from club singer Mikael Surdi to create an unique cover song that works perfectly on the floor. The 'Diskko Mix' is a little more slinky, less heavy on the lead synth, with a focus on the euphoric twilight energy of Nu-disco.

Burnin Tears bring out the cosmic pads for their interpretation, with a rolling arpeggio and wispy vocal extracts. To finish the package, A Tufty Club take things down a moody acidic path, with a slo-mo 303 bass pattern, a broken house beat and a bath of atmospheric effects. Nice.

"U Don't Get Me" is arguably the most dancefloor oriented Burnin Tears production to date, and it features label mate Jakobin. 

There's a shuffling beat, some intriguing chords and a sweet vocal line - basically all you need for a modern house track, right? But these guys are taking it a little further by adding airy strings and an almost balearic piano to the equation. Island vibes!

Cologne-based David Hasert teams up once again with his partner in crime Francesco `Frankie’ Mami from London. The boys are back….back with another banger too. Definitely the best little label doing the rounds around these parts of late. Vienna’s Luv Shack Records continue with the good groove venturing once again into suspenseful House and Disco.

This time the turn of LeSale to pull out the big thick juicy drums and chunky basslines for which Luv Shack is making a very respectful name for itself.Guaranteed heavyweight thump when you flop the needle to the left side every time with the Luv Shack.

Original mix of “We Go Straight Ahead” gets us off to the pristine start with a huge slice of modern Vienna Disco Funk. It’s tight, it’s tasty and the tempting vocal teases to the max.

Burnin Tears tear away some of the Funk but add the energy in a proper remix style for “We Go Straight Ahead”. The big trademark claps from the guys get the thing moving, and I mean moving. Style all the way too with textures and woven sound giving it the elegant tactile quality which is missing from so much of todays music.

B Side begins with “What You Get” in its original guise. Again, another thumping humping banger with a cheeky sample of something to tease the living daylights out of you and me! Nice prodding too of the synth aiding and abetting this classy little musical mood swinger. And what about that “little bell”? I definitely want that shit on my new bike.

And finally, Jakobin & Domino get a shot to remix “What You Get”. ‘Last but not least’ goes the saying. Or should we say ‘leave the best to last’? What a great remix from the J&D, flexing their musical muscles big time with some seriously deep House. Just turn off the feekin’ lights for this one and get totally lost and submerged. A deep serene, almost tranquil groove, I was just as comfortable listening to it lying down on a sofa, as I would be dancing upright like a nutcase at a club. Love it!

Early 2013 brings new niceness from the Luv Shack. Head honcho, Simonlebon teams up with other Luv Shackers, and comes good with his own lick. Simonlebon has been providing quality through his DJ’ing and productions in recent years, good to see his name at the forefront of this release.

Buddies help out of course, and first to fly is the collab with Jakobin on ‘Can’t Do With You’. Warm and flowing, as is the norm with the LS crew through seven previously wonderful releases. Gentle builds entertain; claps with sunny smiles, and zestful and effective chords do the job admirable. Indeed, you just can’t do without this kind of groove in a set.

LeSale joins forces with Simonlebon for ‘So Many’. Punchier and throwing bigger hits, it’s destined to work up a sweat. Tasty piano, vocal treats, and a tip of the cap to dirty Detroit and classy Chicago do await the floor.

Flip it over on the 12” for ‘All I Can’ and you get more excellence this time containing the fine work of Lee Stevens aiding and abetting Simon. The most atmospheric track on the EP with subtle hints and notes of mystery and lost romance. A sexy and classy ‘bridge’ brings it all home again, and takes it a little further down the road. Gorgeous track!

Finally, Domino lends a helping hand with ’Second Chance’. Again, the mood is majestic and divine. True House music has always contained the pervading tone of life and love, and this is where Luv Shack always come through.

Spring Zero Thirteen finally arrived here in Vienna, and with it a busy Luv Shack schedule to shout about. This time the boys deliver a delicious double header coming in two parts. Yes, LUV10 comes in two vinyl slices spread out over a few weeks. Digital, you get to taste all eight tracks in one sitting. And you will need all eight tracks too as the label gets really serious with some heavyweight dance music, including a first for them in inviting major guest appearance’s from the likes of Rocco Raimundo, Mike Burns, DJ Rocca, Ben Sun & Tyson Ballard as Voyeurhythm, Rotciv and Radio Diffusion. The label is spreading its wings and, it’s the right time to invite others to come roost in the Shack and spread the Luv.

First slice in LUV010-1 kicks off with Burnin Tears & Jakobin getting old school with “Heartcore”.Lots of quality bottom end as it was back in the day. Proper House music has always been driving by the simple low-end frequencies that keep the track raw and pure and the right side of industrial. Burnin Tears & Jakobin stir in their accustomed vocal “luv drops”.

mikeBurns bangs it out big time for LeSale’s “On the Beach”. Blimey, you really could be on a beach with this one too. It wasn’t easy getting those Seagulls in the studio apparently and getting them to comply with Mike’s wishes, but the guy did memorable work in getting the job done. More than just another Balearic outing, it builds and builds and really does turn into a majestic summer solstice.

Flip it over and Rocco Raimundo once again gets into that bottom end thing. One heavyweight producer and one seriously heavyweight groove. “Made For Each Other” is Rocco bitten by the Luv Bug. Ethereal and dreamy but with an extremely influential groove that just commands your attention and some fancy foot action.

Last but not least on the flip of 10-1 is the Voyerhythm remix of “Be Yourself” by Lee Stevens & Domino. Some sampling that will have you racking your brain for what it is. I always luv it when a producer teases me to death with a chopped up sample from my youth that lingers on the end of my tongue. Synths and drums and lots of wobbly knob twisting as if Ben & Tyson get frisky with their funky fingers! Damn, I still can’ remember this frigging sample!
