Melbourne-born, Berlin-based artist Phia, aka Sophia Exiner, grew restless of studying classical and improvised piano at University and relocated to Berlin where she cycled from bar to bar in the creative mecca with her African kalimba and loop pedal in her bicycle basket. From her origins in the bars, Phia graduated on to playing some of the premiere festivals Europe has to offer, including Melt, Fusion and Berlin Festival.

In 2013 the experimental-pop artist released the single ‘Do You Ever’ which caught the media’s attention with her signature percussive hand claps, vocal beauty and distinctive kalimba.

This month see’s Phia unveil the first taste of her forthcoming record ‘The Ocean Of Everything’ (due for 2016 release) in the form of a creative cover of Radiohead’s ‘In Rainbows’ opener ’15 Step’, produced by fellow Melbourne-via-Berliner Josh The Cat and mixed by Eli Crews (tUnE-yArDs). Phia returns to Australia at the end of the year and will be playing at this year’s NYE On The Hill festival alongside Kim Churchill, HARTS, Pearls and more.
