ARMADA SOUNDS is the given name to a series of compilations presented by the booking agency and record label BLDSMX. This series was founded in early 2020, with the purpose of interacting with artists who are within the international underground music scene, which are joined by a deep and universal web of soundscapes and connections. This project is a product generated through effort and dedication to the bass music scene, and the avant-garde electronic sounds in the constantly evolving and hybridizing rhythms of 140-170 BPMs such as Juke/Footwork, Dubstep, D&B, Jungle, Halftime, and more

This project was born from the thirst of creators, DJs and producers Alan Flores ‘Vinil Motion’, Pil ‘Deeplinkin’, and most recent addition to the crew Felipe Jardel ‘Aiokai’, with the devotion and passion for low frequencies, repetitive drums, half times and the energetic rhythms mentioned. This great collaboration within the BLDSMX team has, as a purpose, connecting with the inmost parts of listeners and producers alike, to make this deep and universal web as tangible as possible

Based in Biel, Switzerland, the duo of DJ-producers jumped on the bandwagon of juke and footwork after experiencing it during a performance of DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn. 

Now recognized on the music scene thanks to many singles, EP's and other collaborations on labels around the world, the pair has chosen Argent Sale for the release of their first album, Strangers. 

A long format that speaks volumes about the influences that shaped the sound of the two friends: ranging from juke, house, dubstep and bass music, the album combines brilliantly melodic sweeps and complex rhythmic, supported by syncopated infra basses. 

Rite of passage, the nine tracks that compose the album transport the listener to variously glacial, lush or mineral landscapes. A delight to be experienced on the dance floor, as well as in the comfort of our couch.

Following his two-track vocal EP, Jasmine, released on Mixpak earlier this year, Murlo is back with the all-instrumental Odyssey, his boldest artistic statement to date. Eight tracks deep, Odyssey is a winding journey through the ever-fantastical world of the UK producer, a world where weighty bass, soaring melodies and frenetic percussion all hold positions of power.

The lead track, “Moodswung,” shares a peek of what Odyssey represents as a whole. A maze of memorable melodies layered with levels like a computer game, it feels like a powerwalk through a harp-laden dreamscape. “Cascade” is a club tune as intricate as a symphony – where synths run over each other with the urgency and beauty of a waterfall. Pieced together with the majesty of “Lanced,” the melodic freneticism of “Hunter,” the other-worldliness of “High Rise” and the club delirium of “Furnace,” this is signature Murlo: instantly recognizable as his own distinct sound, and yet, never predictable.

Odyssey is a record free of genre: it’s uncompromising yet accessible experimental electronica at its best, reminding us why Murlo has become a unique figure in the UK underground.
