Belgian DJ and tastemaker Lefto announces his latest compilation album, entitled ‘The Beauty is Inside’, on BBE Music.

Eclectic sounds ranging across genres and continents make up the 19 gems contained on ‘The Beauty Is Inside’, all deftly linked together by Lefto’s unrivalled taste and deep musical knowledge.

As well as showing respect for some somewhat unsung heroes from the past like Ethiopian singer Alemayehu Eshete, South African singer and actress Patience Africa and Spanish composer Pedro Ruy-Blas of seventies fusion band Dolores, Lefto looks to the future, showcasing young soul and electronic artists, including D.C.’s Dreamcastmoe, Pasadena’s Qur'an Shaheed, Regal86 from Monterrey, Antwerp’s abrahamblue and Elisa Bee from Milan, to name just a few. The album also features an appearance from paladin of the current jazz renaissance Makaya McCraven, and even a track from Lefto himself.

“‘The Beauty is Inside’ is a compilation of original tracks (I personally really like) and tracks from friends who happen to be great artists as well” says Lefto. “They are all pretty much up-and-coming, and deserve more exposure. It has always been my job as a radio man to shine a light on the talented artists who need it the most. We all know how the music industry works, and how hard it is to find your way in that world, so I hope this collection of tracks will give these artists the shine they deserve.”

Three years on from the release of Rhys Adams aka YesKing's 'Re-Record… Not Fade Away', we are delighted to live up to the album's title by presenting two previously unheard remixes of standout tracks 'Hardground' and 'Overproof'.
Featuring heart-stopping vocals by Mel Uye-Parker & Rioghnach Connolly, 'Hardground' was the album's lead single and it's easy to see why. Bittersweet, understated atmospheres call to mind vintage Massive Attack and Portishead, while Rhys's deft arrangement builds the track into a horn and drum-laden epic. Providing a vintage version in their own unique style, legends in their own bath-time Crazy P are first up on remix duties. Surely one of the best live acts on the planet right now, the UK outfit's rework is full of funky guitar licks, classic piano chords and live percussion, creating a disco-crossover anthem of sizeable proportions. Staying in the disco/house arena, engineer and producer O. De Lanzac turns in a silky-smooth version, with eerie chords underpinned by a rock-solid bassline, calling to mind the eclectic, soulful brilliance of her 2012 BBE debut ‘Uncut’. 
Displaying an affectionate tip-of-the-hat to 'Ghost Town' by The Specials, 'Overproof' is surely one of the best loved and most-played cuts on 'Re-Record… Not Fade Away'. DJ and edit maestro Sam Redmore raises the tempo a little whist somehow smoothing the track out at the same time, retaining the blissful dubbed-out vibe of the original version. Listen to Sam's subtle retouch of 'Overproof' and it's clear to see why the Birmingham native can count Craig Charles and Gilles Peterson among his ever-growing number of fans.

Join two of BBE’s most prolific artists and compilers, Mr Thing & Chris Read on a voyage into the mysterious, strange and wonderful world of Library Music, courtesy of Cavendish Music. Founded in 1937 and originally known as Boosey & Hawkes Recorded Music Library, Cavendish Music is the largest independent Library Music publisher in the UK and also represents a host of music catalogues across the globe.
During the Library Music heyday of the 60s and 70s, thousands of original instrumental tracks were produced across a broad range of genres for companies like Cavendish, who then created vinyl and tape collections, often arranged by theme or mood, for their customers in radio, television and film. Cult British TV shows such as The Sweeney and The Professionals as well as documentaries and feature films relied heavily on these catalogues, and companies like KPM, De Wolfe and Boosey & Hawkes went a long way toward defining the sound of British popular culture at the time.
Never commercially available, music created for these libraries that never made it to the promised land of TV or Radio was destined to languish in Cavendish Music’s vast London vault; only recently unearthed by a new generation of DJs and producers searching for rare gems or a perfect sample.
Mr Thing & Chris Read were first invited to examine the contents of the Cavendish Music archive in 2014 as part of WhoSampled’s ‘Samplethon’ event in which producers created new tracks against the clock using sample material mined from the catalogue. Whilst digging through box upon box of records and tapes looking for interesting sounds, the pair also discovered a host of 70s library music which has not only stood the test of time, but deserves to be heard in its original form.
From dramatic big band numbers reminiscent of Lalo Schifrin’s film scores to atmospheric proto-hip hop instrumentals produced before the genre’s existence, right through to fairly straightforward jazz and funk cuts; this amazing collection of music is sure to inspire and delight DJs and beat-makers the world over.

It had been raining incessantly for months now, the streets seemed desolate as if the locals had abandoned them, opting instead for the safety of their own homes. The sky was eternally overcast and gloomy, but in downtown the bright neon signs of the shops lit up the neighbourhood in fluorescent pinks, blues and greens. Here, the mood was different, the people were hopeful. In swathes, the inhabitants walked the vibrantly illuminated streets, filling them with laughter and enthusiastic chitchat. There was no point mourning, life was too short for that. 

Slow Motion's sister label Wrong Era welcome Pardon Moi to the family AKA Berlin-based duo James Brook and Thomas Freudenthal. The pair produce three original tracks of new wave aimed directly at the dance floor - our favourite is label manager Franz Scala's Italo twist on the title track.

label. Industria is not just about music, but also products, art and more.
The Vinyl is limited Edition of 200 Records. 190 are w/ transparent plastic cover
and hand Numbered. 10 Copies will be part of INDUSTRIA LIMITED Show
happening in September and will feature Screen prints on the plastic Cover.
This record one can say was planned a while back when Robi had a DJ gig together with Vox Low. The next day while meeting in the lobby for a late coffee and a croissant in a quiet Bordeaux Hotel, the idea came for a swap Remix on Vinyl.
When Robi started Industria, he still had in mind that the second Vinyl release could be that swap. Guess both Artist coming from a similar background and working in a similar analog organic style liked the idea and knew what they would get sound wise would be something both have plenty to play with.
On the A side Vox Low remixed Robi’s HARD WORK, which was already released
in 2018 including a remix by Die Wilde Jagd. Vox Low turned the track into a dark more dancefloor orientated version. Still with the trademark Vox Low sounds and Guitars.
On the B side Robi remixed You Are A Slave. He liked all the sounds so much that he thought it is better to keep as much from the original as possible, still trying to make it his own version. He added percussion to create a more funky/dark sound and extended the track. The dub was done in an old school kind of way. All the parts where laid out on a mixer and assigned to various tape delays and reverbs and would be dubbed real time, in the school of Mad Professor or Lee Perry. Not an easy approach and it needed several takes till it started making sense. All mistakes and organic things where important to this Dub.
Robi will be hosting an INDUSTRIA Limited exhibition later in the year, which will
show the direction the label is going.

Years of sweating in garage bands evidently prepared the Lipsky brothers to break boundaries in commercial club culture with a sound that somehow evokes the essence of psych-rock while never sounding out of place alongside certified technoid bangers.

Their musical breadth as producers speaks to their talent as DJs, with a deep passion for record digging that again conveys very specific sensibilities – a love for the exotic, the yearning for transcendence, as well as the rough rebellious energy of punk. They produce dance music from the margins, full of with narrative, melody, and drama. It’s intense, in a good way.* 

Their affiliations to broad-spectrum labels like Multi Culti, Disco Halal and Correspondant might paint some picture of their range, and their stellar remixes for artists like Nicola Cruz, Adam Port, Autarkic and Polo & Pan may have earned them lots of plays,  but their debut LP ‘Sorry, We Did Something Wrong’ is undoubtedly their most ambitious and elaborate statement to date. Drenched in their influences, rich in collabs with a range of artists like Sepultura’s Igor Cavalera and C.A.R., the record is at once ambitious and, as the title suggests, apologetic. Their capacity for embracing these polarities, a radical boldness tempered by self-consciousness, it may divide the audience, but it shows unmistakable personality.

Simple Symmetry returnes to Multi Culti with an epic, mournful EP called “Problem,” featuring a huge remix by long-time compatriots Red Axes. Another huge edit for CULTED is on deck, as well as a peak-time rework of Drugface, following up on their massive mix of ‘In the Clouds.’

*If you had to prompt an AI to get the picture you’d cite ‘dancefloor banger inspired by The Beatles, remixed by Weatherall with a bit of extra Ravi Shankar in the mix, recorded after hanging out with punk kids on their first E at a rave in 1993 headlined by Aphex Twin, CJ Bolland and the Prodigy’.
