Tel Aviv super group @megaphonim are bringing their off-kilter energy to Feines Tier in form of their new „Namal Ashdod“ EP with four original tracks and hell of a @simple-symmetry remix. Even though they’re all quite unique on their own, what unites the tracks is the combination of raw beats and vocals with an oddly catchy pop approach to the writing of the music. Be it in the aptly titled „After of Disaster“ with its let-loose energy, the slow-rolling „Lo Titfos Oti“, which could have been picked from an Andrew Weatherall (RIP) dj-set, or the title track with its break-beats and its unforeseeable left-turns, there’s always this playful and off-the-wall energy keeping the ball going and bouncing. Cosmic Sumo is a Cosmic Disco and Nu Funk label based in the picturesque Florence, a city in Central Italy and the capital of the Tuscany region. Considered by many academics to have been the birthplace of the Renaissance period, it became a major artistic, cultural, commercial, political, economic, and financial centre in Europe. It is also the home of one of the truly Italian masters of the Dark Synth scene: Tulioxi (SXDNS049), the curator of the imprint, by the way.

After a quality above quantity first semester, delivering some AAA+ works on Latido, Mélopée, and Bandcamp, he is now back on Cosmic Sumo with two enorme & sofisticata tracks, ingeniously constructed and heavily influenced by New Wave and Post-Punk plus Sci-Fi cinema. Distorted guitar riffs and modular synthesisers set the mood of the solid “The Elevator” EP.

Premiered here, “Saturn Copies” brings the aforementioned influences and elements and combine them with a menacing and twisted vocal hook, that’s when you notice how creative and insightful he is by observing that every single aspect of the song is tied to the composition, nothing is too little or too much. Yes, with Tulioxi everything is how & where it must be!

London based DJ and producer; MAN2.0 has graced the decks in Berlin, Edinburgh Manchester and Glasgow as well as rocking the closing Two Tribes party at London clubbing institution the Cause, playing on the same bill as Optimo, Kink and Ben Sims among others.
 
His recent Monsters EP got picked up by BBC Radio 1’s Paul Woolford, tore the roof off of Berghain the week before release and is a favourite in the Rekordboxes of DJs like Laurent Garnier, James Zabiela, Pedro Winter, Electrosexual, Justin Robertson and a host of other top guys in the business. His current EP Red Shift (on Paisley Dark) is also getting getting love from DJs all over the disco spectrum.
 
Mark (as he’s known to his friends), has also released on Nein, Wonder Stories, Hypnotic Connection amongst others and has remixed for numerous artists such as Zakmina, Ali X (of Azari & III fame) and DDM boss Black Light Smoke, he has also picked up plaudits over the years from artists like Rex the Dog, DJ Sundae and has had his music described as ‘Dark but ultimately redemptive’ by the late great Andrew Weatherall, after getting a play on his  Music’s not for Everyone show on NTS. 

This mix bounces us through his ever evolving record collection, where weird pop curveballs brush up against grimy EBM, unshazamable techno melts into rave classics from yesterday, today and tomorrow.

Playing out like a full artistic statement rather than just a collection of tracks, the odd time signatures, innocent and waify vocals, muted acid lines and hypnotic loops layered up by Nina all work subtly at pulling you into her world. A superbly, executed and accomplished debut album that has already set the bar high for electronic albums this year.

Years of sweating in garage bands evidently prepared the Lipsky brothers to break boundaries in commercial club culture with a sound that somehow evokes the essence of psych-rock while never sounding out of place alongside certified technoid bangers.

Their musical breadth as producers speaks to their talent as DJs, with a deep passion for record digging that again conveys very specific sensibilities – a love for the exotic, the yearning for transcendence, as well as the rough rebellious energy of punk. They produce dance music from the margins, full of with narrative, melody, and drama. It’s intense, in a good way.* 

Their affiliations to broad-spectrum labels like Multi Culti, Disco Halal and Correspondant might paint some picture of their range, and their stellar remixes for artists like Nicola Cruz, Adam Port, Autarkic and Polo & Pan may have earned them lots of plays,  but their debut LP ‘Sorry, We Did Something Wrong’ is undoubtedly their most ambitious and elaborate statement to date. Drenched in their influences, rich in collabs with a range of artists like Sepultura’s Igor Cavalera and C.A.R., the record is at once ambitious and, as the title suggests, apologetic. Their capacity for embracing these polarities, a radical boldness tempered by self-consciousness, it may divide the audience, but it shows unmistakable personality.

Simple Symmetry returnes to Multi Culti with an epic, mournful EP called “Problem,” featuring a huge remix by long-time compatriots Red Axes. Another huge edit for CULTED is on deck, as well as a peak-time rework of Drugface, following up on their massive mix of ‘In the Clouds.’
