Israel’s hottest export follow up excellent EPs on Hivern and I’m A Cliché with a 3-tracker for the global psychedelic cult of Multi Culti.

Tel Aviv’s Red Axes are one of the most exciting new acts in dance music, with rich sound that is musical, deep, trippy and organic, while remaining precise and lethally effective in the club. The range in their sound is impressive, their talent unmistakeable. They are one of our favourite artists of the year, and this latest record is one of their best yet.

Lead track 'Waiting for a Surprise’ builds around a mid-tempo disco bassline, with tough percussion, and rugged synth stabs, but it’s the eerie and unique sounding vocals of Brazilian collaborator Abrao that bring everything together. This one is a guaranteed bomb for building up, tearing down, peak time or chilling out… an outstanding track in every sense, the kind that force trainspotters to the DJ booth to discover what’s playing. Next up, ‘Hope’ kicks off with resonant, delayed toms, adding a haunting howl and synths before dropping into a wild, clanging, carnivalesque frenzy. It’s understated, but advanced, with an interesting arrangement that really opens up in the second half. Finally, 'The Metal Bender’ slows the tempo but ups the vibe into an elated, slow-burning space-disco anthem. Fantastic stuff!

Melbourne’s Kris Baha, fresh from launching his Power Station imprint, offers a stripped down remix of ‘Waiting for a Surprise,’ with a heavy, industrial-influenced groove that wanders into the deep, dark end of party strasse.

John Talabot and Axel Boman teamed up in 2017 for their R&S debut ’The Night Land’ where they got to flex their creative muscles over eight tracks of rich synth jams.  

The two electronic artists have been independently successful in their respective careers, but as Pitchfork expressed in their glowing review “Their collective output doesn’t sound much like either’s work; it doesn’t even necessarily reflect the thin, convex sliver where their interests overlap. Instead, they’ve hit upon something new.”

This new sound also proved to be a hit with the likes of Mojo, Phonica, XLR8R, Self Titled and DJ Mag all including it their annual best of lists.

The artists have now handpicked four artists to create their own vision of the Talaboman sound.  
Superpitcher, Samo DJ, Luke Slater under his L.B. Dub Corp alias and Powder have all seriously delivered the goods.

Where did it all begin? First came the 'big bang', followed by a wondrous process of evolution, the so-called 'survival of the fittest'.

Having emerged and now being well established in his country of origin Greece, Thodoris Triantafillou follows a string of stellar releases on Connaisseur, Objektivity, Upon You and his powerful first outing ‘Avrio’ on Chapter 24, with the beautifully crafted ‘Species’ EP.

Fusing inspiration from the animal and astral realms with a potent combination of styles and influences, Triantafillou’s technical excellence and natural flair for selection shine through here.

Lead track ‘Hornbill’ is a classic banger brimming with straight up, driving energy. Melding the sounds of afro, techno and cosmic electro, it’s a workout for body and mind.

Meanwhile ‘Elephants’ packs a hefty punch, offering plenty of tension and a full percussive workout. Close on its tail and rounding things off, ‘Capybara’ is an uplifting and synth-led affair with plenty of production prowess.

All power, confidence and swagger - the ‘Species’ EP is sure to take its place at the top of the pecking order.

For its second release of 2018, microcastle welcomes the mysterious Cornucopia project back to the label for a new EP. The publicity shy artist first appeared in May of 2016 when 'The Day You Got Older And Stronger' was released courtesy of Gorje Hewek & Izhevski's Shanti Moscow Radio. Shortly thereafter came his microcastle debut with 'Pursuit of the Orange Butterfly'. A lo-fi, organic and deeply musical creation that the underground fell in love with. 

2017 was met with just one release, 'Letter For Poly' which launched Lee Burridge's new Tale & Tone imprint. Sitting at #1 in Beatport's overall Top 100 the track was also aired on BBC Radio 1 by Kolsch and by year's end was considered one of 2017's best deep house tracks. Now returning to the comfortable home of microcastle, Cornucopia presents his much anticipated 'Forever Gone' artist showcase.

Spread across three tracks, ‘Forever Gone’ is a transcendent blend of music and nature, an organic methodology which Cornucopia seems so apt at crafting. Beginning with the evolving textures, exotic drums and tonal creativities of the title cut, the EP then shifts energy to the modular intensity and oriental themes of ‘Big Sky’, before ultimately melting down to the tranquil, meditative yet spiritually uplifting expedition that is ‘Epathia’.

PREMIERE: Space Motion & Sirov - Ellora (Original Mix) [Timeless Moment]

"Insane Dances" is a brand new sub-label from Partyfine, run by Yuksek and Get A Room!, which will deal in darker, more off-beat sounds of a post-disco orientation. It kicks off with an excellent and agenda setting EP from the Get A Room! duo. Say the pair on the new label, “We like a lot of different things musically speaking, and we do not want to be limited to a specific style like too many labels today, so we’re sure we’re going to be a little confusing. With Insane Dances we are asking our audience to be more open and wide with their tastes.” As such expect everything from funny French nuggets to New York noise, disco to No Wave legacies.
Parisian pair Jeff Lasson and Aurélien Haas have built a hedonistic galaxy based on carefully selected edits and irresistibly leftfield mixes. They bring their playful and left of centre style to this new release which features a tropical techno anthem and
percussive DJ tool. Excellent opener ‘Ecuador’ is a seductive and deep number with real mystery in the melody. Strange spoken word vocals add a sense of paranoia to the crisp, popping drums and it’s a perfectly spaced out afterparty tune filled with character. Then comes ‘The Reef’, which is an off-kilter track with wonky drums and percussion and spraying synths that are brilliantly loose. It’s colourful and dynamic and full of warmth, sure to really get the floor locked in and along for the playful ride. This is a terrific and charismatic start to the new label that will win over plenty of fans from the off.

Years of sweating in garage bands evidently prepared the Lipsky brothers to break boundaries in commercial club culture with a sound that somehow evokes the essence of psych-rock while never sounding out of place alongside certified technoid bangers.

Their musical breadth as producers speaks to their talent as DJs, with a deep passion for record digging that again conveys very specific sensibilities – a love for the exotic, the yearning for transcendence, as well as the rough rebellious energy of punk. They produce dance music from the margins, full of with narrative, melody, and drama. It’s intense, in a good way.* 

Their affiliations to broad-spectrum labels like Multi Culti, Disco Halal and Correspondant might paint some picture of their range, and their stellar remixes for artists like Nicola Cruz, Adam Port, Autarkic and Polo & Pan may have earned them lots of plays,  but their debut LP ‘Sorry, We Did Something Wrong’ is undoubtedly their most ambitious and elaborate statement to date. Drenched in their influences, rich in collabs with a range of artists like Sepultura’s Igor Cavalera and C.A.R., the record is at once ambitious and, as the title suggests, apologetic. Their capacity for embracing these polarities, a radical boldness tempered by self-consciousness, it may divide the audience, but it shows unmistakable personality.

Simple Symmetry returnes to Multi Culti with an epic, mournful EP called “Problem,” featuring a huge remix by long-time compatriots Red Axes. Another huge edit for CULTED is on deck, as well as a peak-time rework of Drugface, following up on their massive mix of ‘In the Clouds.’
