Monday November 16 1998 was the darkest day in the history of my life and my family. My sibling brother Tendai Gwatidzo Moyo passed on due to a terminal illness. He was only 34 years of age at the time of his passing. He however left us the most precious gift in the form of a lovely little princess by the name of Thandeka Amanda Moyo, who has now blossomed into the most amazing beautiful young lady making an impact on the community as one of the top female journalist Zimbabwe has ever produced. My 1st passion into music came all through my brother as a mentor. His life had blossomed to a brilliant amazing individual who had given his life to the Lord thus he was born again and became a committed and devoted Christian. His transformation was both internal and external. Internal with regards to the values he now chose to embrace and uphold, External with regards to the way he reflected those core values by affecting positively those he came across. His untimely passing on left a huge gape in the family and those that had come to know and love him as a friend, brother, father and fellow Christian man. I composed this beautiful piece of music in his loving memory and in celebration of his life. We all have someone in life, a loved one that was taken away, if so, embrace that loving memory for eternity. The pain fades away with the passing on of time, our hearts eventually heal, but the scars are forever left with us as a glimpse reminder of what once was. Celebrate the life and memory of your loved ones. Let their loving memory live forever.

Mngane wami is a Nguni word meaning ‘my friend’. Nguni being a group of Southern African languages like Zulu, Xhosa, Swati and Ndebele. The song speaks of a so called friend, who speaks badly behind your back. A reflection of the so many good memories in the past, saddened by the betrayal, lack of faith and trust, the friendship comes to a dead end. We all at some point and time experience this kind of betrayal from a loved one. If this individual was on your social contacts like Facebook, you would most certainly unfriend them without a moment’s hesitation. On WhatsApp you would block them. How you deal   with such a character in real life varies from person to person.
