When did the label start?
We started How to Kill sometime in 2012, I'd like to say late fall. At least, the concept. 
How many records have you released?
We have released two records, HTK001 and HTK002. You can find them listed on discogs, I'm not sure if they're still in stores or not. http://www.discogs.com/label/602577-How-To-Kill-Records
What was the reason behind the label starting?
I would say a pure dissatisfaction with the music being produced and ideas, as well as an overall boredom with tech-house and traktor DJ's on the circuit. Its not an argument against format, but I think there is definitely a lack of appreciation for music, especially with all the downloading and free stuff going around, as well as the supposed “easily used” production tools that are out nowadays. I'm not trying to criticize everyone who falls into any of the categories listed above, but there is definitely a lack of appreciation for music and history, as well as knowledge of music or its history. I would say that the music coming out on the label is a physical and existing critique of the global dance music agenda. 
What are you trying to create with the label?
Dope music for people to dance to and DJ's to play. I hate buying a record for just one track, so we try to offer at least ¾ would bang tracks. 
How would you describe the labels sound?
Sludge, detroit-style production. You can hear each person's influences in their tunes, although I think Marshall Applewhite and The Friend (also known as Simple) have not only installed a new sonic template, but also a new foundation of style to come from the midwest. 
How did the name and logo come about?
We were all sitting in the room, I think it was Mike/Konstantin's idea. Im not sure, I was pretty drunk.

How do you go about finding the right producers to release on your label?
If it fits the motif of what we are doing. Obviously a lot of our productions are done in-house, although the first record did feature Broodlings and REKchampa from Atlanta, they're all extremely talented guys. Actually, REK just had a record come out on Love Below with Seven Davis JR that is fat as hell, I would recommend checking it out.
What formats do you release on? Vinyl, digital etc
Vinyl only. Although in the coming months we will be giving out free stuff, music, swag, etc, and if you follow certain artists on the label, they are usually pushing a couple of things out there for the homies. I know Marshall gives out a few tunes every now and then, and we are doing a digital promo for between releases starting in 2015, I believe.
Who are your influences?
Too many to list, really. I'd say for me, personally, Surgeon, Jeff Mills, Theo Parrish, Kris Wadsworth, Trent Reznor, Curtis Mayfield, Glassjaw and the Chariot. 
What future plans do you have for the label?
Expand, develop our artists. I am starting a new label as well that will be for my own stuff as well as a few people who's stuff need to make it on a record. It's really fucking cool to see someone succeed, especially when you believe in them. 
What set backs has the label faced? 
Getting things done in a timely manner. 
Do you find it hard to get your music heard? 
Not really, but I dont think we are looking for plays or follows really, so Im not entirely sure how to judge that. I google us every once in a while, but people are buying the records, so I assume they are tuned in somewhat. 
What distributors send your records around the world? (I found you guys at a record store in Melbourne)
We have Crosstalk INT, a distributor out of the Midwest who takes care of that for us. 
Whats the best place we can buy your records?
From us, personally! I always enjoy hearing from anyone whos interested in the label or music or wants to grip some vinyl. I usually try to buy from the artist direct as much as possible. 
We will be rolling out some gear for you guys soon as well, shirts and etc. Other than that, I would say the records have made it to Hard Wax, Juno, Redeye and that one store in Japan that has everything. Also, no we do not have any copties of 001 left. 
Konstantin and I also run Local Heat with our friend, Adult Supervision.

Ophir Kutiel AKA Kutiman is a multi-instrumentalist from Tel Aviv, a “psychedelic space funk architect” to quote Straight No Chaser. When we were approached by his label Siyal about recruiting ZamZam/Khaliphonic artists for a remix project, we loved the idea right away - dub without borders or boundaries is our passion, and getting our hands on Kutiman’s freeform analog explorations felt like an amazing opportunity to push that passion further.  All four remixes revel in the freedom of the original tunes, and each, while anchored in dubwise techniques, are totally unhindered by tempo or other genre constraints.  

Alter Echo & E3 open with a remix of “Unknown,” the set’s only 140 tune, full up with a bubbling cauldron of bassline and flutes, esoteric vinyl archaeology, spring reverb shocks, and swung percussion.  

J:Kenzo, known for 140 and 160 bpm sound system bangers, here takes the chance to stay deep - but in a chill mode - unfurling a beautiful journey of syncopated drum work and slapping percussion framing the lush, meandering melodies of the original “Behind The Noise."

Gulls’ rework of “Mineral” rocks with an offbeat feel, technically in four, but swaying like it’s in three.  Plucked guitar figures recall the African roots of contemporary bass music, and tape hiss buffets the listener back and forth through a sonic hall of portals and passages.

Perhaps the most surprising of all four four versions is Headland’s closing “Lucid Dream” remix, which sets course for dub techno country and never looks back.  Combining the best of the producer’s masterful sound design and sense of build-and-drop dynamics with the idiom’s 4/4 pulse and focus on immersive space, Headland closes a set as inspired as the album it was based on.
