Mercy System - Secrets ep Preview - MD005 - OUT NOW

Taking the reins for Tread's debut release is the unique Guava, whose previous releases on labels such as R&S and Holding Hands have made him one of the big names to watch in the left-field electronic world. Collaborating on the release are two of London’s finest session guitarists, Alex Blake and Leo Abrahams. Their impressive CVs include work with artists such as Jon Hopkins and Skepta, respectively.

Things open up with ‘In Cloud’, a blissed-out slab of broken techno, spaced out with guitar riffs played by Blake. Both ‘Libelle’ and ‘Equinox Meaning’ continue on this theme with a cut of bass weight, with more silky guitar performed by Abrahams on the latter. Dublin-based Sputnik One is on remix duties, turning ‘Libelle’ into a beefed-up club weapon fit for any sound system.

The next EP on our label comes from @Kahter aka Cameron Carter, a Bristol based DJ/Producer from South Devon.

Coming from a musical background he has grown up performing and learning various types of musical instruments, which has stemmed and innovated his knowledge to become a creative electronic music producer. His genre doesn't sit perfectly in one category as pushing the limits of experimental bass music is his only intention by creating sounds that came from the influences of Techno, Grime and Dubstep.

In this release he explores the dark & hard hitting sounds of low end UK Bass/ Techno music delivering two tracks made for those intimate dungeon-esk low ceiling venues where weird sonics engulf dimly lit rooms.

Opening this release you’ll find two fast hitting club weapons; “Jigger” with its consistent percussion and spacious steamy pads allows for a room to breathe and be filled simultaneously throughout the track whereas “Quire” takes the more full on approach using a gatling gun effect with the kick drums, screwing up even the most conventionally peng punters standing in its path.

Today you can find Kahter in the darkest of clubs of his hometown of Bristol supplying the largest of bass heavy rhythms.

The bass driven, dark and impactful sound of ‘Basilica Blueprints’ is the debut and defining release for the label, throwing them into the forefront of the Bass music and ‘130’ genre. Leading the tape are heavyweight bass and dubstep heads 9TRANE and Unkey who flourished in the reprise of the ever growing genre of Bass/130 music. Alongside them, Manchester's newest dominating bass music producer Monir adds in both dark and dangerous dance floor killers in ‘Over’ as well as an ethereal and cinematic combination of textures and drones in ‘The Conflict’.

BSC001 showcases the underground music sounds of Bristol, Manchester, London and more. Compiled by Basilica’s label boss Eyeza,  these artists have been selected for the tape as both the finest newcomers and revered veterans combined.
Basilica as a label has already had its previous successes. One of which being the ‘Basilica Mix Series’ which, for the past 3 years, has showcased some of the leading heads in UK Bass music such as KRSLD, Diessa, 9TRANE and many more. Another is the ‘Bricks of Basilica Show’ on Bristol's largest underground music radio station 1020 Radio. The show has hosted guests such as fellow label header Eich from More Cowbell as well as Korzi, Grove and many others. 
Named justly as the plans and foundations of Basilica, ‘Basilica Blueprints’ displays the plans of what Basilica will build into as a label. The architecture of this Bass music temple is long, dark and heavy.
