"Extra Spicy’s third various artists compilation, XTR003, is an all-Australian affair. This nine-track release features some of our favourite local producers and covers the full spectrum of bass music, from classic purist flavours to mutant genre cross-pollinations. 

Heavy, chopped-up breaks and massive bass stabs pervade 99 Nissan Patrol’s Ruffla, Mashup from Akul, and label owner Mincy’s Gnome Home. 

Fans of more stripped-down flavours will want to make a beeline for the UKG nostalgia of Why Didn’t You Mention It? by Myledo and Krypsis’ dark garage groove LoFi Rider. 

The final portion of the compilation raises the tempo. DJ SUNROOF gives a respectful nod to the past on Break The Mold, a jungle banger chock full of mangled breakbeats. 

Hardcore energy is merged with chaotic footwork sample manipulation and ghetto tech attitude on Say My Namefrom Floor Twenty, while UNKLE SYD channels 1992 warehouse energy on Sydtopia. End User License Agreement rounds out proceedings with a heady, dubwise roller that focuses on spacious echoes and big sub bass.
