xmas24seven is not about a religious or cultural holiday, rather, it is an inside joke and it will always make me happy when i see it or when i think about it.  i don't smoke cigarettes, but i would (24seven) if it meant i was inhaling popular xmas customs like gift giving, joyful music, caroling, exchanges of unsuspecting kindness, non-stop celebrations, a special meal, and a constant display of various decorations in peoples homes and on the streets.  most of the tracks you will hear are completely random and anticlimactic, but for one reason or another i very much enjoy these moments that have been captured.  each moment is a gift and gifts are meant to be shared. 

Solo project. Guitar/vox's from Table For Three

(Ali Berkok - piano/accordion, Pete Johnston - bass, Jake Oelrichs - drums/percussion, Mike Smith - electronics) Formed in the autumn of 2012, these musicians have played with each other in various combinations in numerous groups in Toronto over the last ten years, including Muskox, Arkana Music, See Through Trio, and the Toronto Jazz Orchestra. This quartet emerged out of a shared desire to create extended improvised musical structures in which the instruments would function as equal partners in the ensemble texture. Drawing on a range of influences including jazz, dub reggae, American minimalism, electronic music, and punk rock, Aurochs seeks to expand the traditional palette associated with this instrumentation. To this end, Aurochs focuses on developing sustained, gradually unfolding ensemble improvisations. Aurochs's wide open approach to music-making means that they never end up with the same song structure twice.
