KŐVÁRI is the third chapter of the BRVTAL compilation series that sets memory of Hungarian architecture and brutalism with 14-track contributions by international and local artists.

György Kővári (1934-1982) is the most mysterious figure of the among Hungarian architects in the last 60 years, who built characteristic and well known buildings like Déli train station (1961-62, 1969), Balatonfüred train station (1967-72), Skála (1982) at Nyugati square or not long ago demolished Kőbánya-Kispest metro and train station (1980), just to mention a few. He never gave interviews, he did not talk much about his works in public, and his oeuvre was not even discussed yet. It looks like he only lived for planning buildings in his short life, so it's not a surprise after university he started working at MÁV Design Institute as an architect, later becoming its leader until his death. Furthermore he was chief architect of METROBER in the '70s, where he also worked on the development of transport hubs in Budapest.

We are glad that a lot of new and some returning artists join their forces on this diverse techno compilation with which we commemorate another and underrated iconic figure of the local brvtalism.

Having appeared on esteemed imprints like Rekids, Klockworks, Dystopian and Deeply Rooted, Hester’s Participation imprint kicks off early October and will be an outlet for his own output as well as collaborative efforts with fellow artists in the global techno and house community. Already underway, we can look forward to projects with Kwench boss and Panorama Bar favourite Cassy, as well as Tadeo, who’s built a solid standing on his own outlets Madrid Techno, Another Intelligence and Cyclical Tracks, also as an early contributor to Jeff Mills’ Escape Velocity series. The collaborative projects will be realized over a reciprocal exchange of sketches between artists, visualised by the artwork for each release which will be a simple one-line drawing from Hester himself – underscoring the directness, honesty, and immediacy of the music presented.

The suitably named ‘Participation 001’ kickstarts Jon Hester’s newly minted Participation label with two original solo tracks. ‘Unidentified Aerial Phenomena’ sets the scene with layers of droning, syncopated rhythms shot through with mysterious signals. The second track, Hyperspace, is a mind-warping offering featuring huge synths, rolling grooves, and high-impact drops, completing this first EP built to elevate dance floors across the universe.

Revelation Vol. 1 is a passage to singularity; a collection of sounds shaped by the tension between destruction and renewal, chaos and clarity. Each artist brings a different piece of the vision. It’s not a literal retelling of Revelation, but something looser-like scripture reimagined by an artist, more fever dream than doctrine. A soundtrack for standing on the edge of the world, watching it burn, and somehow still believing in what comes next.

You’ll hear traces of riders on strange horses, the shadow of a collapsing empire, and moments that feel like glimpses of a new heaven flickering behind cracked walls. The imagery isn’t there to preach; it’s there to provoke, to ask: What does it mean to be awake in an age like this? Revelation Vol. 1 isn’t an answer. It’s a mirror, a signal, a beginning.
