[Release Note]

In Greek mythology, Icarus and Daedalus myth stands to represent man's ability to push himself to the limits, trying to achieve what was once thought as impossible.

Daedalus was a brilliant mind and found work in Crete as an architect ruled then by King Minos. He fell in love with Naucrate and they had a child whom they named Icarus. 
At some point, King Minos asked Daedalus to build a labyrinth for the Minotaur so he wouldn't escape and be hidden from everyone. 
He then kept Daedalus and Icarus prisoners in a high tower in Crete so they wouldn't reveal the secret of the labyrinth to anyone.

Considering their options to escape, it turned out the only way was by air. Deadalus conceived two pairs of wings with feathers he had gathered over time. He warned his son not to fly too close to the sun or sea. Icarus flew next to the sun and the wax holding the feathers together melted. He fell down into the sea and drowned. A little caution and some patience is necessary to achieve great things and we think the whole process of this EP describes just this.

After releasing a few singles on Anomaly Music Collective and Lump Records, Samaha crafted the Icarus EP over the past year and makes his debut on Art Vibes. With four original tracks, we aim at showcasing this promising producer from Seattle, USA. Coming from a trance background, Anthony has now shifted to the ethnic and worldly beats of house and techno.

‘Icarus', the main track of the EP is a solid progressive house collaboration with french duo Pandhora. Elaborate chord progressions and crafted chopped vocals blend with the delicate ethnic percussions and the gliding deep bass.

‘Sultan and the Scarab' showcases Samaha's trance background while presenting a lovely ethnic touch. In one ear, a booming royal horn synth to represent the Sultan, and in the other, a playful guitar to represent the Scarab. Combined with powerful drums, this will make any crowd dance through the night. 
Going further into Anthony's world, third track 'Asabiyyah' is a hypnotic electronic tale built up from trippy vocals and crazy arpeggios.

To finish off this EP on the right note, ‘Vendetta' echoes to ‘Icarus' as it presents the same vocal arranged differently in the background of the track. Samaha demonstrates once again his ability to compose unique melodies that stick to the ears.

For this EP, we are gifted with talented remixers who proposed an alternative to the original tracks, in their own refined styles. Spanish violonist and producer Alvaro Suarez as well as Athens based Lannka produced their own version of ‘The Sultan and The Scarab' while Gardens of Babylon's Vander worked on a psychedelic and deep version of ‘Asabiyyah'.

Here is a fact: Peacocks live in dense, forested areas where they roost in trees and gather together in flocks called “parties.” They seduce with their dance and their distinctive calling voices. In allusion to the mysterious bird, Klassified Records is corresponding to the peacock’s livelihood and is back with a second volume of The Feathers’ Eyes compilation.

Brought to you by Klassified founders RAMMÖ and Parallells, ‘Les Terres de Tawa’ is a collaboration from the four childhood friends from the South of France. An energetic and rocky tune combining vibrant guitars to groovy beats.


This marks RAMMÖ’s debut on their label. After a busy year touring around Asia and Colombia, performing at festivals such as The Monastery, Klassified Music Festival or Bali Spirit Festival the two friends start the year with a banging tune and have a lot of projects coming up.

AKKAN is the Barcelona based production partnership between prolific natives BeGun and Ocellot. They came together after a magic mushroom psychotropic journey in the Kalahari Desert and that is reflected in their sounds which build on idiosyncratic and trippy melodies and ethnic rhythms.

Fantastic opener ‘Kai’ is another enthralling trip into occult sounds, organic percussive patterns and colourful synth lines. The rolling drums set the groove with the elastic chords and nagging drones hook you in as bird calls bring an open air feel.

Acclaimed Mexican artist @InigoVontier who releases on labels such as Turbo Recordings, Correspondant and My Favorite Robot remixes the same track into something equally magical. It is roomy and organic, with shimmering chords and suggested rhythms sucking you in and carrying you away.

Olimpiada Records have been kind enough to share Pines in the Sun - Zig Zag Sea, an EP which evokes the ocean to the point where you can almost taste salt in your mouth when you listen to it. Sun is the lead cut and opens with a meditative chant which is later joined in quite kindly by laidback disco sounds which set an irresistable tone before giving way to warm and life affirming guitar tones. 
Uj Pa Gaz and Olsi's new project is clearly here to bring the solar rays, the breeze and the distant sound of the waves through our ears and into our souls... Just make sure you bring a towel. Out July 11th on digital format.

PREMIERE | Pines In The Sun - Sun [Olimpiada] 2019

"Disident Remixes EP" is UK/AL Olimpiada's fifth release, featuring three beautiful and insightful versions (provided by The Long Champs, Inaktiv and Heidenreich) of a 2015 track by the alternative Prishtina, Albania, based band Asgjë Sikur Dielli. 

The remix we were given to premiere brings our dear friend and collaborator Timo Gans aka Heidenreich (SXDNS142/FREEDL003) at his best! The young and promising producer/DJ from Berlin takes the track into a four-season time-lapse journey. Using his own words, his inspiration came by pitching the original bassline one step down, expanding with detuned melody chords and destroying – and reconstructing – the original guitar samples. His (Nu)Disco-ish interpretation is undeniably intended to trigger some furore to the dance floor. The playful woodpecker-like percussive riff added by Timo makes the job of recognizing the track an easy task – no Shazam needed here, folks!

Here in Calypso we are big fans of Mytron & Ofofo. Their track Something for the mind was one of our favourite tracks a couple of years ago. So when Mytron came to us saying that he took it upon himself to re-work some of our Take Aways we were more than delighted and didn't hesitated to ask him if he will like to release them with us.
So here they are, Peru's Aristidez and Brazil's Celestino get the Mytron threatment to take their tracks even to newer heights. The result is funky and dirty as you would expect from the man.
