Mexican label Kyma Komplex welcomes emerging artist Oto Veltauri, with his debut LP, "Dark Celebration”. a solid, electrifying journey. Influenced by the experimental works of Georgian composer Natela Svanidze and her groundbreaking piece "Epitaphium" (1974), Oto Veltauri explores into modular synthesis sounds from outside this dimension.
"Dark Celebration" blends musical genres, incorporating elements of lo-fi, acid, dark, and hypnotic vibes to create a powerful and introspective voyage. From the nostalgic sounds of 1980s drums to the pulsating basslines and ethereal samples, each track offers something distinctive and captivating.
Featuring four tracks performed on a vintage Moog Modular synthesizer from the 1960s, "Dark Celebration" showcases Oto Veltauri's evolution as a musician. While the tempo may have slowed compared to previous works, the tracks on this LP are characterized by their voluminous and varied compositions, offering a dynamic listening experience.

PREMEIRE : Oto Veltauri - Sky Commander (Kyma Komplex)

Apollon Telefax is a multi-instrumentalist and illustrator who likes to knock up killer balearic symphonies from reclaimed Soviet material. His debut EP on Balearic Ensemble touches on hip-hop, boogie, and 80s pop sensibilities, where a penchant for decades past meets his endearingly digital palette.

Bouncy synth bass over cascading claps open up proceedings; flutes, warped samples and marimbas join the chorus. ‘Kaifs’ is a balearic dance in Cyrillic signs, conceived when Mr Telefax was asked to record a children’s choir for a New Year’s Eve party. Honing in on one particular voice, he caught, cut and twisted a certain phrase out of context. The result, with its innocuous call to the dancefloor, is an unexpected beachside jam for the summer.

Next up we get ‘Deus from Drum Machine’ with its machined B-boy groove. Apollon spits and re-pitches freestyle bars atop winks and nudges to classic drum consoles. A loving homage to a time when house, hip-hop and sample culture briefly skipped in step. With a heavy dose of funk. And some seriously jammy synth lines.

Third track ‘Blablaster’ summons the ghost of Gary Numan and challenges it to a game of tongue-twisters. Nonsense, riding atop a disco beat. Brilliantly peculiar, ‘Blablaster’ is a twist of Telefax’s tongue that places it firmly in cheek.

Closing out with a more driving number, ’Kaif (Apollon Telefax Remix)’ (no physical relation to Kaifs) is a rescrub of a certain USSR hip-hop icon, lifted up with kicks, claps and a deft, jittering synth bass. Digi flute riffs off staccato piano, setting up stirring, cyclical harmonies that frame the reclaimed acapella. This is your dancefloor opener, or perhaps your sunrise waltz, crafted with love from Apollon Telefax to your digital medium of choice.

For the third label's release, Clouzer returns to Distant Gaze with ""Call of the Abyss,"" a six-track EP featuring three originals alongside three remixes from acclaimed artists Damon Jee, Zakmina, and Berlin's emerging talent, Zee Mon.

At the helm of the EP is Clouzer's captivating journey, ""Voices from the Abyss,"" extraterrestrial echoes and pulsating broken beats, embarking on an exploration into the depths of the unknown. The EP's second track emerges as a powerful stage presence, guided by the haunting vocals of Valentin Henning. Blurred and delayed textures immersing the listener in a mind-altering experience. Pulsating rave energy of ""Perpetual"" fuses cosmic elements, broken beats, and dark disco bassline, embodying Clouzer's distinctive sonic identity.

Adding to the EP's allure are three remixes, each offering a unique interpretation. Zee Mon's rendition of ""Perpetual"" channels darkwave energy, infusing the track with an irresistible pulse, a primetime banger on vibing dance-floor. Damon Jee's remix of ""Stalactites"" delivers his trademark full-throttle dance-floor oriented dark disco, elevating the EP to the next level of intensity. Finally, Zakmina's broken beat journey serves as a beautiful sublime culmination of the EP, evoking the feeling of a perfect closing track for an enchanting morning DJ set.
