This secretive figure reappears with two tracks of indie dance that bend and re-shape elements of italo disco, minimal pop and synth wave to create an utterly unique experience. Sleazy basslines and tropical percussion give way to heavily vocodered words in “Lover”, machine amor breaking to spoken human voice as melodies twirl. The romance described is one of passion, of friendship and of fidelity; but, with a hint of control. Clever and addictive, the composition cherry-picks bittersweet sounds to depict this relationship. The flip, “Look What You’ve Done”, maintains the candystore keys of the A-Side; the tone shifting as lyrics adopt a brazen and fortified vigour. It appears maybe that the promises of “Lover” have been shattered. While the love story turns to hurt feelings and regret, Real Velour keep the energy high to revel in the final break-up.'

Interface Palm returns to Broken District with a new two-tracker crafted for the dancefloor.

After making a name for himself as a producer and DJ in Brisbane, Interface Palm moved to Melbourne in search of a new creative environment. The move paid off: his debut EP Four To The Flora was released on Beats Of No Nation and received support from independent outlets like Bolting Bits, eventually catching the attention of the French label Broken District. He first contributed a track to the Brokenbits Vol. 2 compilation, before solidifying his place on the label with Curated Space—a mini LP that showcased his full range, moving between broken beat, house, cosmic jazz, and hip-hop, and featuring a collaboration with Melbourne-based bassist and producer Horatio Luna.

Now, Interface Palm is back on Broken District with a new double single designed for warm, hazy, late-night atmospheres.

The title track, “Digital Evening”, is a deep-house anthem driven by jazz-infused harmonies reminiscent of the modern UK fusion-jazz scene. It’s a smooth transition piece—from sundown into the night—blending afro-house grooves and lush deep house textures, all underpinned by heavy, saturated low-end treatment.

On the flip side, “Digital Day” offers a more offbeat take on broken beat, shaped by sun-drenched 90s lo-fi synths. Acting as a daytime counterpart to “Digital Evening,” it leans into a more mental, introspective space—yet still pushes enough low-end energy to keep the dancefloor engaged until the very end.

Early in the year Nick Garcia joined PUZL Records with a debut EP that defied genres. His attitude towards experimental sound design and non-structured composition gave us a breath of fresh air.

We return to the release with a batch of remixes that continue with that ethos. First up is the legend himself, John Tejada, with a mind-bending rework of ‘Stepmode' that infuses old-school breaks, electronica, pulsing basslines and a host analog detailing. Following up is newcomer to the label Arctor, who’s work quickly caught the ear of Garcia. His remix falls in line with his Experimental, Breaks and DnB hybrid styles. Catch me was @Headman ’s 3rd album and was originally released on Gomma in 2008. 11 of the original tracks have been reworked by Robi. The release also features previously released Bonus tracks.

Catch Me showed a new development in the Headman sound. He fused his trademark Post-Punk productions style with a dose of Italo-Disco and some synth - pop. The album also highlights the voice of Jeremy Kerr from legendary Manchester/Factory band A Certain Ratio on Dreampieces and Anton Spivac, who also added vocals to Moisture in the past, which was used in Xavier Dolans’ Laurence Anyways movie in 2012. Tara from It Rough fame and Toronto’s Don Cash who himself released Music on Relish in the past. The rest of the tracks are Instrumental and more dance-floor orientated. Bonus tracks feature Dennis Young of legendary NY band Liquid Liquid on additional percussion on Dreampieces alternative version and a Remix by Zongamin.

With this album, Robi tried to bring new breath into his sound and the approach was to combine pop and dance music, breaking some barriers, mixing up indie vibes with an electro attitude and with a little bit of Bowie and Eno in it too!
The task of doing dance music that is not boring and bland for sure was not an easy one. Loads of analog Synths, instruments and equipment where used on Catch me, to give the tracks a very warm and analog feel.

Celestial electronics are always at the heart of James Welsh’s music, via a number releases for labels such as Erol Alkan’s Phantasy Sound, Wolf Music and Hypercolour.  “Hammers” is Welsh’s second release for Futureboogie (following 2013’s “Craven” EP), and finds the UK based producer on particular fine form.

With its airy pads and shrouded ambience, “Hammers” drives a 303 bass line right through its centre, perfectly balancing the tracks emotive and darker sides.

Hodge (Livity Sound/Hemlock) comes on board with an industrial sized remix, carving out some heavyweight tribal drums and additional percussion and letting the acid do its tweakable thing.

“Denergy” meanwhile channels some electro tinged bassline moves over super funky, tight drums, a flourishing acid line, and laced with the futurism and sound aesthetics that’s keeping James Welsh at the top of his game.
