As February 29th only comes around every four years, we thought it befitting of this latest fleeting appearance to celebrate with yet another fine release from our burgeoning Selador stable. Be rude not to, right?

And what better way than with the label debut of Mr Tom Peters. German born, Berlin based, Tom has already released music through such esteemed channels as German heavyweight labels, Kompakt & Get Physical and so naturally, we’re very pleased he’s decided to add Selador to his already impressive résumé.

Featuring two very different but equally strong original productions, the tribal tech of ‘Two Of Us’ with it’s wonky synth surges and sensuous vocal inflections to the more forceful peak time techno flavourings of ‘Restless’. It really is a double header not to be missed. 

On remixing assignments, rising German star, Tim Engelhardt sprinkles his own magic dust over ‘Two Of Us’ whilst Mexican duo Climbers step up to the plate with a stonking interpretation of ‘Restless’. Basically, it’s a win win situation. Just the way we like it. 

So.. Happy Leap Day everyone. Don’t say we didn’t spoil you ;-)

Barnt and Stephan Bodzin, two artists whose stand-out performances at recent Afterlife events have made them firm favourites with the crowds, are tapped for the remixes of Tale Of Us & Vaal's latest single 'Monument' (AL006). They both take on the title track, Barnt opting for a rolling, percussive direction and Bodzin more ethereal and transportive. For the digital-only third contribution, Adriatique (the Swiss duo of Adrian Schweizer and Adrian Shala) give the drums some extra punch and cloak the vocal in spacey reverb.

SMALA RADIO 029: URIAH KLAPTER

John Parsley concludes Sulk Magic’s maiden year with his debut EP on the imprint. Four typically sordid, doom laden original versions from the Swiss producer augmented with esoteric takes from Stove, Maya Danon and Ian Blevins.
The title track ‘Simple Days’ gyrates with agitated yet industrious drums providing the backdrop for perverted 303’s. ‘Fuck Yeah’, a cosmic disco throbber only suffering from slightly less chill than it’s associates offers respite before the eerie ‘Lost the Castle’ takes over with it’s dogged bass and shadowy bells. ‘Soldados Des Paz’ wind’s up Parsleys contribution with unyielding collisions and introspective pads.
Israeli artist Maya Danon and ESP Institute’s own Ian Blevins provide the dance floor fix with their brisker interpretations.

Ali Kuru puts a fantastic Turkish hypno-funk twist to his interpretation, and makes it a crazy psych-disco banger, while Richard Rossa is taking a slow, hypnotic dub-minimal approach. 
Nasiri, a traditional Sufi musician ads his fantastic sets of live-instruments, like the Oud and Flute, to the original sounds and evolves the track in into a organic, epic and magic journey. 
Mexian born SÒN also spice things up with an organic and pumping tech-vibe. All this makes for an absolutely BOMB release. About time to get this in orbit! <3 <3

We are happy to present @vincentgericke’s first EP “Fierce Intent”, which is going to be released on the 22nd of June. It will also be the first EP to be published on trndmsk Records. Furthermore, trndmsk Records is going into slower directions after a two-year break and Vincent Gericke seems to be the perfect fit to reopen this project. He has not only convinced with several mixtapes in the past but has also been putting a lot of focus on music production lately and some of the results can be heard in the EP. The EP consists of four Original Tracks and three remixes from @sarkis_mikael, @elfenberg and @landhouse-raddantze. The first two tracks serve as a touching and slowly building beginning with a lot of emphasis on instruments such as Pianos, Guitars or the Armenian Duduk while soft synthesizers transition to the last two tracks that are a bit more forward going.

Rob Insinia (AKA Headman's) Relish has been a staple of the Indie Dance scene for the past years and a highlight of the release calander has been the Relish Compilation with its brand of EBM with a live edge. 
With Contributions from artists as far afield as Daniel Avery, Richard Fearless and Tel Aviv based artists like Red Axes.  Relish IV continues to shine a light on Israel's cultural institution by shining a light on Niv Ast with his contribution Tatiana.
Tatiana is a percussive little ditty with plenty of cowbell, an understated bassline and electronic blips which creep on to the dancefloor unannounced before forcing the hips to wiggle. Subtle eastern flavours charm the synths where vocals add that little extra menace to a track which is already understated but deadly.
Headman has always walked the line between established talent and breaking new artists bringing producers like Mondowski and Maya Danon to the fore and Niv Ast is another name to add to the staple of talent in the Relish camp.

Born in Miami with a Cuban background, Cry Baby has been strongly attracted to dance music since her earliest teen years, crashing raves since age 12 and immersing herself in the legendary South Florida dance culture of the 90s. Her growing hunger to share and perform led her to learn to DJ in her 20s, but soon found the lack of opportunities for women in her hometown stifling, so in 2010 she relocated to Brooklyn.

As soon as she landed in New York, Cry Baby wasted no time making a splash, playing a dizzying array of clubs, underground warehouses and private parties all over the city. Her own party series, House On Mute, quickly earned residencies at top clubs Submercer, Output and Le Bain, while also maintaining a strong underground presence at countless warehouse and loft spaces in Brooklyn. 

Her dancefloor selection style straddles the house-techno divide, distilling and blending them in novel and potent concoctions, with a freshness, fluidity and thrust all her own. It was in 2011 that she began quietly experimenting with her own productions, slowly but intently developing a unique tech-house alchemy with influences in minimal and deep dance flavors in equal measure. Her first track, an enchanting and heady remix of Caiwo, was released on Euphoria Records in 2015, and was followed up by a split collaboration with Derek Marin on the legendary New York imprint Nervous Records. 

With her impressive releases came the demand to bring her signature sound to international destinations, and in 2015 she completed her first European tour, dazzling audiences in Berlin, Stockholm and Prague, and she returned for a lengthier second tour in 2016, which brought her to Ibiza, Barcelona, Vienna, Luxembourg and back to Berlin for multiple performances to much acclaim. Back stateside, she has continued playing larger venues, with appearances at Mysteryland USA, Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival, and several Mixmag Lab showcases, while maintaining her deep connection to the emerging underground techno scene in Brooklyn.

Cry Baby's hustle did not go unnoticed; in 2016 she was tapped by Mixmag to join their Smirnoff Sound Collective project, which brought together a dozen of America's most intriguing up-and-coming artists in a year-long experimental talent showcase. Her experience there inspired her to create FM Elle: a female-driven record label, collective and event series meant to highlight and empower underrepresented female artists from all over America. With more tours around the world and further original releases and remixes in the works, the future is looking increasingly bright for this busy rising star.

2017 saw the arrival of Pin Up Club here at the Bordello with a superb three tracker, Friends of the Vortex. Now the Dutch partnership are back. This time a quartet of tracks has been selected to produce The Forever Machine. The bold bars of Friends of the Vortex, the romantic rushes and soundtrack silhouettes are all present with new elements being introduced to further develop a truly unique style. Breathy vocals and melancholy are countered by warm synthlines in the brooding “Valis” before the lonesome “Is There Anybody Out There?” blooms into a daringly bright work of disco dimensions. Opening the flip is the title piece. Smouldering, “The Forever Machine” burns with quivering chords that rise ever skyward on a column of tight rhythms as lyrics spiral ever upward. “A Deepness In The Sky” is a perfect illustration of Pin Up Club’s ability to transform burgeoning sombre sounds into tempered elation, rumbling strings and fragile percussion intermingling for a heady finale.
