Label favourite Modular Project follow the success of their 'It's Time' EP and step in with an energetic, rig-ready tool built with festival floors in mind.

'You Know What I Mean' rolls out a springy break that remains tethered to a 4/4 kick and sub combo that immediately sets a hands-in-the-air tone. Progress marches on while a sprightly vocal comes in and at this point the mood is certifiably dialled.

What follows is a build-up that sits the track comfortably in a big room space as 909 hats work to maintain a sense of urgency while vocals are stretched and mangled and a caustic 303 nips and snarls away.

The track then builds sequential bridges between the next drop, each landing with a pupil-widening splash.

2021 marked the return of Toolroom legend Dave Spoon (aka Shadow Child) as the renowned DJ & producer released ‘Steels’, his first record in over 15 years on the label. Slated by Fatboy Slim as the “Earworm of the summer”, ‘Steels’ hit hard earlier this year, receiving a huge amount of radio support and love from the Dance Music scene.
 
So, what’s next for Dave Spoon? Well whilst we wait for that next piece of original brilliance, landing on Toolroom is a killer remix from legendary Polish Dance duo Catz ‘n Dogz, who make their label debut. An outfit that needs no introduction, they have affirmed their place amongst some of House Music greats, with a career spanning 15 years and a discography just as long, is there anyone better to remix Dave Spoon than Catz ‘n Dogz? 
 
The duo brings a refined, Disco-tinged, festival flavour to Dave Spoon’s summer hit, adding a slick groove with an emphasis on the insanely hooky records brass section. Throwing in similar elements such as the brass swells, melodic steel drum hits and the vocal cuts, Catz ‘n Dogz have created a remix that doesn’t stray too far from the original but lives completely in a world of its own. 

A cut that has it all, Catz ‘n Dogz has nailed definitely nailed this remix by putting their own spin on the record whilst staying true to the originals fiery but fun feel. For sure, ‘Steels’ is a record you won’t be able to get out of your head.

PREMIERE - Modular Project - You Know What I Mean (Exploited Club)

Maazn Records unveils its inaugural release "Lost in Transit” by Guzman & Terraflow. Inspired by the breadth of London's current sounds, this record gives a taste of their vision for the future.

The A-side features label co-founder Terraflow infusing his signature style of old-school drums and intricate synth work. "Atomic" lays down a catchy bass riff that summons an ethereal feeling of the past, whilst "Totaled Larynx" takes a hypnotic turn, embellished with haunted melodies suited to the early hours of a certain pit in Norfolk.

Guzman takes the wheel on the B-side, starting with the punchy, sleazed-out rhythms of “Neo (Trance Mix)”, steering the EP further into the depths of the peak-time dance floor. Finally, “Time Deprivation” details clever vocal sampling atop of an arsenal of dangerous waveforms - a fitting verdict that is guaranteed to set the audience into a bass-laden frenzy.

These are no warmup tracks, play out at your own risk.
