From four original tracks and two remixes, the release embraces the variant sounds of Melodic Techno and Indie Dance, generating a pleasurable synthetic tour. "Monotonic Astral'' opens the album in an essentially melodic track. Next, the version by Vini Pistori, a strong Brazilian talent, brings a remix that proposes an outfit aimed at the more minimalist side of Indie Dance. The tempo takes place with "Norma", a low-frequency track that demonstrates a powerful work with synthesizers and that gained an interpretation of CRUXZ, which adds its signature accelerating the BPMs and proposing a progressive tone  "Light Between the Clouds" features accelerated kicks with industrial elements, delivering authentic track music. And finally, "Entropy" brings progressive and slightly accelerated melodies.

Our 300th premiered comes from Peru, Mexico, and beyond, peeps! We explain: Born and raised in Lima, the beautiful Peruvian capital, Mario Rivera aka Izakaya Deployment is the man behind No Signal Records – the main imprint through which he spreads the word about his sonority with both solo releases and eventual collaborations with either local or international artists. With the freedom to bring to life whatever/whenever he feels the need, the soundscape of his themes encompasses atmospheres that vary from deep & progressive to dark & obscure, revealing not only proper production skills but also a sharp inventiveness. For “Night Of The Sun”, his forthcoming episode on his very own NSR, he welcomes Jesus Cuevas aka Tierra De Ovnis (SXDNS295), whose “Conexión” EP, released last year on mighty Duro with remixes by Thomass Jackson and Juan To Tree, put a spotlight on the Tepoztlan-based producer.

For his interpretation of “Night Of The Sun”, Jesus kept the sober and trippy atmosphere of the original, but brought the game to another turf with the infusion of more aggressive guitar-like synth riffs and friskier percussive elements, resulting in a more Dark Disco-infused cut – the exact accent sought by Jesus via his new moniker.

After almost one year from its previous release, the Mexican label SKYCREW Records, curated by Roy Parra aka Tiempo de Maldad (SXDNS173/FREEDL008), is finally back with its freshest episode. “Encounter” is the result of the partnership between Velax and CHINOSYNTH (FREEDL021), two young and promising producers who have embraced the dark instead of the fluffy side of music aiming to deliver their vision of high-quality underground electronic music. On board, providing three awesome remixes from the two originals, Ivan De La Rouch (FREEDL022/032), Aurum Miles, and Corresponsal – equally young and dedicated to delivering dark cuts.

Premiered here, “Escape” brings the duo flirting with their Rock and EBM influences and fusing them with groovy elements in order to deliver a dance-floor-oriented beast. The vibrant and robust theme combines progressive guitar riffs with a bouncing synth layer plus sharp vocal hooks and a ghostly lead, resulting in one of the highlights of the solid EP.

Despite the challenges and weirdness of the year, boundary-blazing bandoleros Duro (@durolabel) continue to shoot through 2020, all-pistols-blazing. Releases have fired from all corners but one of the strongest themes has been the ‘Muy Duro’ volumes. The Mexican label’s flagship V/A series, each EP digs deep into the dark disco psyche, celebrating the label’s widest sonic outposts and reference points with friends and shared spirits from across the world, old and new. Marking a year of the series, with tracks from Israel to Istanbul, ‘Muy Duro Volume 5’ is certainly no exception.

Veteran cosmic groover Tim Paris makes his long-awaited debut with the slouching funk and broken drum swagger of ‘Better Slightly Unchanged’ before two more collaborations join the party with their Duro debuts, all hailing from Israel; Middle Sky Boom and AckerMan whisk us through the stars on ‘Temp Goes High’ while Rina X Benji pay homage to mind alteration on the electroid bumps and asteroid grinds of ‘Koshmaro’.

Professional belly dancers and long-time friends of Duro Hanzo & Yaman follow with ‘Hokus Pokus’. A springy, playful slab of house music laced with pitched bells and a riser that teases and teases, there’s a late 90s/early 200s mischief to this that, like the label itself, just won’t quit. 

The final word comes from the label bossman Theus Mago (@theusmago) and French brother-in-arms Id!r (@idir-wm)… And that word is techno. Deep bleeps and endless pulsations, ‘Soft Light’ is an epic moment of pure late night hedonism that sits somewhere between Bobby Peru and Plastikman. Blazing boundaries and still fully loaded, the Duro bandoleros keep on shooting.
