In his own words...

'1998 Kuwaiti track "El Qalb El Mehtas" by Bashar Sultan is a rare gem in the realm of Arab music. The cleverly-written lyrics that intertwine hilarity and sorrow, paired with a silly 90s video clip that is nothing short of a masterpiece, it gained meme status in the Arab world in recent years. I saw this as the perfect opportunity to elevate it to the dance floor, tapping into its already uplifting energy, breaking it into 4 parts and changing their arrangement slightly, adding a bassline, intro/outro, breaks, and tension with the drums to the delights of the saz, and more of its "vocal hypes" and shouts that come from Arab weddings. At the end of last year with huge success, I debuted my project "Deviousco" at Kabareet Club Haifa with Lau Tropico where we infused cultural music from all over with the invigorating rhythms of Italo, dark disco and others. As a Palestinian, it further fueled my passion for remixing and editing Middle Eastern music and gave birth to this edit. Now, Lets see if it can make you dance as much as it made you laugh.'

PREMIERE - Astore – Trip (Nubians of Plutonia)

Based in Graz, Austria, producer and audio engineer Lorenz Häusler introduces his debut EP titled "Tabula Rasa" under the alias Kheodor Turner. Drawing inspiration from the iconic sounds of the late 80s and early 90s with a unique percussive sensibility, this EP is a natural and skillful fusion of the past and present.

The opening track, "Baba," blends elements of Big Beat with Tropical overtones, while seamlessly incorporating rhythmic patterns reminiscent of traditional Middle Eastern music. Its pulsating measures are complemented by lively harmonic motifs and snappy vocal chops, which are a common theme throughout the EP.

Pleasure Seeker is Derek from the Italian duo Derek & DJLo (SXDNS047). Envisioning to explore his most inner influences, he decided to fly solo and now brings to life his very first EP: A fine darkness-meets-groovy single, filled with Italo Disco references and remixed with love by Alberto Melloni, Astore, Monao80, Moran, and Mystery Kid (SXDNS398).

The single is coming soon as part of the celebrations of the second anniversary of his own Nubians Of Plutonia Records, a rising & shining Milan-based label devoted to expanding the universe of beloved genres such as Proto House, Italo Body Music, EBM, and Indie Dance.  

The mastermind behind the remix we selected to review/premiere needs no introduction amid the retro-infused side of the electronic music scene. With acclaimed appearances on Mélopée, Raibano, Bordello A Parigi, Paradiso, Ulla, and Italo Moderni, just to mention a few, Alberto Melloni had his name carved in stone and became one of the most prominent artists of his generation.

For his debut on Nubians, maestro Melloni made the original live up to its name and turned it into a true singularity by bringing the theme to outer space and soaking it with Cosmic Disco elements such as deep leads and psychedelic synth layers resulting in a zero-gravity experience for dance floors.

A warm welcome to Sonson, who’s delivering the goods with the fantastic “My Blues EP”.
The original took our hearts by storm with its silky-smooth live piano, effortlessly floating over a constantly driving, simple yet effective and uplifting groove work. So we immediately made plans for a full release with the talented Munich DJ and producer with whom we have been friends for years. It didn’t take long until Michael, Sonson’s real name, came up with the great idea of asking his old pal and French house don Franck Roger to remix the tune - an artist all of us deeply admire for his unique body of work and ongoing contribution to our scene (Real Tone, Earthrumental, countless nights at Paris’ Djoon club you name it). Luckily he’s been digging the tune and made two utterly great versions by adding his magic - the uplifting Earthrumental Mix that sticks with the piano and a Dubthrumental that fully lives up to its name. The package is rounded off by Sonson’s “My Dub” and “My Beat” versions and whereas the dub is a bit more stripped back, dropping off the piano while adding some trippy synth textures, the beat is just a perfect tool for the working DJ. Voila!

Landing with an almighty bass bin rumbling on Sprechen is another northern musical disciple from around our way. Kiaki has been a regular visitor to many a Sprechen and Sticky Heat social and defo knows his onions when it comes to rocking the discotheques. With previous releases on Me Me Me and the likes of Erol Alkan giving hi props its with a mega vibe that we welcome him to the label!

Northern Solar is a straight up, lost in the sweat & smoke kind of club track. Hypnotic and hooky with its relentless pulsating low end thud & rumbles accompanied by synth stabs and squelches a like. One for the mutant acid militia…

The 2nd helping comes in the form of ‘And Then Some’. Slower paced and stripped back allowing for a more infectious groove to take over. But still packing bags of electronic drama. Perfect ‘transition track’ for when you need to flip things up a notch (or 2). Kind of peaky but not too much, what we like to call at Sprechen as a ‘subtle banger’.

Kiakí - And Then Some [Sprechen]

Younger Than Me are Marcello Carozzi and John Ming, a rising DJ and producer duo from Milan. They teamed up with singer Lara Caprotti for their debut release. The uplifting synth arrangements combined with the soulful voice of Lara results in an ultimate sexy-disco-rave euphoria. Fellow Italians Massimiliano Pagliara and Uabos handled the remixes and and put their sophisticated signature on top. A future club classic, sweet as honey!

Record will be out the 29th of March on Bordello A Parigi.

Droid Bishop's highly anticipated remix editon of 'In Your Love' on Media Blackout features an array of fantastic talent in the form of Medsound, B1ZB1Z & Dellmon who bring us their stunning interpretations of this stunning original. 

First up is the B1ZB1Z crew who's mix uses a melodic 80's synth, stunning vocal and brilliant effects to create a bubbling ambience resulting in a distinct and emotional feel, which culminates in a marvelous uplifting piano riff destined to leave you wanting more and further cementing B1ZB1Z's already great status as a shining newcomers of the scene.

Media Blackout all-star Medsound's remix of ‘Run Away' is a stripped down club affair that effortlessly intertwines classic 80's chords to create a pounding groove that is sprinkled with hypnotic synth stabs and a mesmerising vocal making this a instant club smash whilst remaining faithful to the original. This will please the Medsound faithful as well as the club going dance crowd. Essential stuff!

Finally, Dellmon's remix focuses on the melodic side, by cleverly chopping the beats and vocal for the opening part oft he track to create a moody and emotional vibe, which in combination with some swinging drums half way thru establishes so much positive energy that it takes you right to any happening beach house club at sunset in the world, emphasising the vast musical spectrum this release has on offer.
