"For me, Jean-Michel Jarre is one of the founding fathers of electronic music. His music has always been sonically and musically creative, so when I first heard his music as kid it was one of the main things that inspired me to want to make electronic music. Jarre also created the big show format for an electronic performer. 

I recall first discovering Tangerine Dream via the soundtrack to "Risky Business" and was very sad to hear of Edgar Froese's recent passing. 

It was an honour to work with these two legends of electronica on our remix of “Zero Gravity" - the idea was to draw on the early influences from their music combined with ideas from the track itself, and then inject some Above & Beyond into the mix."

A 4-hour mix set I made in honor of TD and the late Edgar Froese, who passed away almost exactly a year ago. Temporary free download, high quality mp3. 

For those unfamiliar with Tangerine Dream, it is my very humble opinion (and VERY humble) that this mix is one of the best ways to be introduced to their music. It focuses more on their moody ambient side, which was sometimes overlooked because of the band's tendency to balance out their serenity with electrified, intense, faced paced passages. Of course that those peaks and valleys were what made the band legendary, but for listeners who have trouble with peaks and valleys, I offer this mix to remedy that a bit. Tangerine Dream's historic and undeniable influence on the evolution of electronic music can be heard throughout the set. It focuses on the band's first two decades, 70s and 80s, and hones in primarily on the period when Johannes Schmoelling was the third member of the band (early 80s) (which I believe to be their greatest period, but that's just me). Take it in. The mix is both entertaining and/or something that can be left on in the background.

This edit of one of the original Bladerunner themes has been on my list to do for a long time. I actually got to know it through a Hardstyle remix of the same score that was made around 10 years ago. I have a tonne of adolescent memories accompanied by that version, of which many happy ones but a sad one as well. Making this version under my Deeparture moniker has been a big therapeutic session for me. I hope it will do some dancefloor damage during those special moments! This one is for you, Thomas.
