_ensnare_ - Let Us Progress To the Castle of Funk (Dualtrax & Artfx! Remix)

This is a remix of the song "Fly To Paradise" by composer Eric Whitacre for the Virtual Choir 4 project.  I only used the stems he provided, my guitar, and a Nintendo Gameboy running LSDJ for everything you hear.   

Whitacre's style of using diatonic dissonance to create tension has been incredibly influential to my own work over the years.  It was kind of interesting to be able to pour some of that influence back into a reimagining of one of his songs.  

I wasn't sure how a choir and gameboy chip sounds would mix together, but as the song progressed I really felt the magic.  It was also a total mindfuck to take a renowned composers work, and have the gall to change the chords and notes around to my liking.  Oh well, just another challenge right?  

Hope you guys like this one, I think it turned out pretty special.

This started off as a joke track, but even so, I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.  All basses were made with FL Studio 11's default synths (!), except for the Sega Genesis slap bass.  Use GMS, FL people

Step into any pub in Dublin after 9:00pm and you are almost guaranteed to find live music. These local 
musicians perform traditional Irish music (or “trad”): a combination of dance forms like the reel and the 
jig, tear-jerking ballads, and songs celebrating the wonderful invention of alcohol. 

‘An Cailín ó Neidín’ (‘The Girl from Kenmare’) is modeled after the double jig, whose music falls into a 
pattern of two beats per measure with each beat divided into three pulses. The music begins with a slow, 
elegiac introduction that imitates the drone of bagpipes before launching into the proper quick dance 
tempo. Other common trad instruments like the fiddle, tin whistle, and the bodhrán are imitated in 
chiptune fashion throughout the track.     

My wife and I honeymooned in Ireland where we were able to meet her great aunt Betty, born and raised 
in Kenmare and the youngest of fourteen children. We visited her again last year, but sadly received word 
that she passed away in February at the age of 94. Kenmare is a beautiful, tiny town where everyone 
knew who Betty was, and this track was written to honor  her memory – we will never forget our girl from Kenmare.

This is my take at “Do it for Him/Her” from Steven Universe in a Uematsu-esque battle theme.  This was also the first planned art/music collab with Kevin Creel.  We had this in mind for our first collab to both 'test the waters' and for a signal boost.

Hello! My name’s KCVisualD, and I am a legally blind Visual Development Artist and Digital Illustrator. Due to a rare eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa, I am no longer capable of maintaining a studio pipeline; however--albeit very slowly--I still very actively pursue my own artistic endeavors. 

Pieces of Eight and I started work on this project sometime ago, and finding the time to collaborate our efforts was quite a challenge; however, despite all the hurdles, we feel that our mutual love for both creative mediums (animation/music) really came through in this piece.
