Tucsonan, Jonathan W. Martinez, has a style so unique, utilizing unconventional guitar techniques such as tapping and percussion, paired with the structure and melodic flow of classical guitar. His performances are more than just a listening experience - they are a visual artwork that intrigues audiences through the stories he conveys in his musical writing.

Since 2008, Jonathan has performed for many venues and organizations in Tucson: most notably Tucson Meet Yourself, Tucson Guitar Society and the Fox Tucson Theatre where in December 2018, he again opened for world renowned acoustic guitarist, Trace Bundy. In 2013, Jonathan studied abroad through the University of Arizona in Antigua, Guatemala. His most humbling experience during his three month study came from his visit to Rio Negro, a Mayan community in Baja Verapaz, Guatemala, where he listened to the stories of survivors from the Rio Negro Massacres in the 1980's. He was asked to perform for the community, where his performance was well received, but furthermore, changed Jonathan's outlook on life as both a person of integrity and a musician. Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Arizona Bolton Guitar Studies program.
