In Flagranti (Sasa Crnobrnja & Alex Gloor)

The duo has always made a great case demonstrating how “inspiration” from the creative works of others can truly be made into something new and totally distinct from the source material.  But whether you know the source material bears major influence on what their interpretation is going to even sound like to you.  In other words, you could be hearing the same song as another listener is, but if you’re familiar with the source material, you’re going to also be hearing that, while someone who isn’t familiar with it won’t.  Most of their listeners have no idea this is even going on, or could even be allowed.
I figure I follow In Flagranti quite closely, but I only make a connection here, or a connection there.  Sometimes this happens immediately, other times it’s taken years to notice.  Most connections I will never even be aware of, and I don’t listen for them, they just stand out to me or they don’t.  Sometimes I only discover the source material long after I’ve been familar with In Flagranti’s take on it, which you’d think would detract from the latter, but for me, it only adds to it.  In Flagranti’s musical interpretations show a certain ethic and a philosophy that parallels their approach to visual content.  It’s so “meta” that I’m at a loss to describe it, except to say what I often do:  Warhol would be In Flagranti’s biggest fan if he was around to witness them. – truckerdisco.wordpress.com

Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery—celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from—it’s where you take them to.”

Barry Harris was the first club DJ in the world to write, produce and perform a Worldwide Top 5 hit; “I Beg Your Pardon” by an act he named Kon Kan.

“I Beg Your Pardon”, became an international Top 5 hit around the world, garnering a Juno Award (Canadian Grammy) for Best Dance Recording in 1990.

In 1998 Barry relocated to Los Angeles to mastermind the remix team Thunderpuss producing more than 40 #1 Billboard Dance remixes including hits for major label recording artists Madonna, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Jennifer Lopez, Cher, Mary J. Blige, Celine Dion & Donna Summer to name a few.

Barry is best known for Whitney Houston’s Top 5 global hit, “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” which remains in steady rotation today as well as "Dive In The Pool (Let's Get Soakin' Wet). 
Also winner of 2 IDMA Awards best remixer of the year at WMC and another IDMA Award for Best Underground Dance Record of the Year.

DECADES of professional nightclub DJ skills, and began my practicing in the very early 1990's.
When I was 18 years old I used to sneak away from home to go to NYC to hear Junior Vasquez at  the original Sound Factory and then found my way to the Limelight.
In my quest for obtaining the most illusive and private remixes of my idols I because friends with some of the most influential DJs in the NYC dance music scene. 
Spending many evenings in the studio with DJ Eddie Baez and becoming friends with other DJs like Razor N Guido, Chad Jack, DJ Escape, & Peter Rauhofer.

After years of just being a music lover and collector I decided to make the progression to Disc Jockey. After-all, I was entrusted with a wealth of rare and unreleased music, it should be played.

In Philadelphia I had already been closely tied to the nightclub community. DJs like Robbie Tronco, Michael DeCero, and Rob Lee were already among my close circle of friends.
So I was already doing a good job bridging the gap of transporting music between NYC and Philly.

I have played at almost every major dance venue in the Philadelphia region, and started to make a name for myself in other cities around the country.
I was embraced by the Bear & Leather community and quickly found myself playing at almost every major Bear or leather event around the country.

By why stop their. I have a Passport, a reputation and am well networked.
My global career started in the most unusual of places, Reykjavík Iceland where I have been asked to return year after year.
I then started to branch out into Europe playing London many times. North of my home into Canada welcomed me with welcome arms, where I am a frequently requested favorite in Vancouver!
After crossing the Atlantic Ocean, I decided to cross the Pacific Ocean into Japan. Tokyo praised me, and continues to bring me back.
North America, Europe, Asia, where next?? The Southern Hemisphere of course!
Sydney Australia has asked me to provide music during their two week celebration of Sydney's Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras year after year since 2010.
This event is known the largest gay pride celebration on the planet!

I still am all about the music, the party, and the vibe, so its not unusual for me to play to a crowd of thousands at a major circuit party one week, then to a crowd of a dozen at a private birthday party or maybe a hundred at a bear run or Leather bar.
If my music, talent, and skills are appreciated I'm happy to entertain.

Sandra Collins exploded out of the California rave scene in the 90’s.  Born in Arizona but with roots in  Las Vegas, her appetite for dance music & it’s culture, drew her to the heartbeat of Los Angeles. She started DJ’ing in the early 90’s, which led to an A&R job at the LA office of EyeQ/Harthouse, the German record company co-founded by the dance music pioneer, Sven Vath.  Her production career began in 1998 with releases on LA’s Fragrant Music and the UK’s Hook Recordings. The early 2000’s saw several releases via compilations, singles , EP’s and remixes on labels such as Kinetic, Perfecto and Interscope for artists including Nine Inch Nails and Fleet Foxes.  Between her releases and relentless touring schedule, Sandra received numerous awards, including URB Magazine Best female Artist in 1999 and UK’s Dancestar Best DJ in 2003.
 
Sandra held residencies at the legendary Twilo in NYC and also at Chicago’s Crobar.  She had the honor of being one of Coachella’s inaugural DJs, playing the influential festival three times, and performed at Woodstock ‘99,  Ultra Music Festival, Global Gathering, Electric Daisy Carnival (now known as EDC), Creamfields and Burning Man, to name a few.
 
Over the years, her musical style has expanded. Her sets now include deep, progressive, melodic and tech house, following along the lines of her current productions.  Sandra pushes herself out of her comfort zone and enters a more confident and creative stage in her career, including performing vocals on her recent releases. She has been a guest DJ on several radio shows and has been feverishly working in the studio, creating an arsenal of productions with DC based production partner Micke. Sandra has a radio show of her own in the works and is inspired to score for the silver screen, while still making dance music and bringing it personally to her fans on the dancefloor on her upcoming Back2Black tour starting in December 2018. This will coincide with her next release “Four” on Perfecto Black, due out end of November.
