This was the first collab' i did with a South African artist/ group. I was emailed by a guy called josh from the group Magic soul, asking to do a collab', i'd never heard of them, but decided to give them a chance. I sent them a groove with Andy Barton on Rhodes, Charlie Hearnshaw on sax, Pete Morris on congas, and me doing the rest, it was already named 'Hot In Africa' as Pete's congas gave it that Africa touch, it was also mid summer in the uk, and i sampled the crickets out the back of the house (who sing all the way through!) 
I was pleasantly surprised  when Josh sent the vocals back, it sounded DOPE! their remix was super hot as well!! Turned out the dude responsible for the production side was Pricha, a very talented musician and producer.
This song tuned out to be a hit in South Africa! Check it out!! It was originally released on a Peng single, then on the album 'Ocean' in 2011.

A friend of mine, Sy Sez, contacted me a couple of years suggesting i made some songs with his buddy Sabrina Chyld. I checked out her collab's and loved her voice! So, we touched base and tried to make some plans. It took a long while to get recording session sorted, as she has a very busy life! i had just moved to Bristol as well, which made it easier to get to  (Dawlish by the sea just didn't have the energy i needed anymore! and a move to London wouldn't have worked well for seeing my kids regular, and i'm still a country boy at heart!, so Bristol was the perfect city...with so many talented musicians, which you'll hear in my forthcoming releases :) 
So, we made 2 songs for my solo LP 'Ubuntu' released in feb 2014. The music for this song i made myself, in my girlfriends flat in Paris, on a broken beat tip. We finished it in Bristol with Sabrina writing some lush lyrics and melodys, I think it's a super smooth number!

Vusi Ngwenya is a composer, arranger, educator and performer, educator and performer.  The family background is a source of inspiration. Vusi’s father is a musician and he plays Flute and Saxophone since the late fifties.

Vusi’s career started in 1985, as a person he always want perfection, so he started perusing music studies at Dorkay house and later went to study Bachelor of Music at the University of Witwatersrand. He started his professionalcareer as an educator at Funda Centre for ten years

His performance career started when he joined Soweto Symphony orchestra as a flutist.  The orchestra toured the whole South Africa and other neighboring countries like Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland and Zimbabwe

During the same period, himself and other wind instrument players formed Soweto Big Band.  The Big band performed in venues like Gold Reef City, Mofolo Cultural Bowl, Orlando Communal hall, Masakeng Pub, and Mofolo Hall.  During the University years, Vusi collaborated with poet Kgafela wa ma Gogodi touring the campus and venues like Market theatre, Windy brow theatre and Gallagher Estate. In 2010 he formed a band called Jazz route and performed at Kippies, Eden vale, Gold Reef Casino, Diepkloof hall.  He have performed also with artist like Khaya Mahlangu, Zim Nqawana, Khaya Mahlangu, Macoy Mrubata to name few
The composition and arranging was inspired by the involvement with the orchestra, big band and poetry and also working with young artists who specialize in different music styles.  Vusi have arranged music of different artists like Sophie Mgcina, Strike Vilakazi and this can go on an on. He also arrange his own music for small and big ensembles

Currently Vusi is involved with Thuthukani music conservatoire orchestra as an arranger and performer. The Soweto Big Band also uses his services.  He is also a member of Jazz Route playing flute and Saxophone. From time to time he freelance with different young musicians recording house, hip-hop and other styles of modern music.  Vusi is still furthering his music education with Royal Schools of the Music and also lecturing in different institutions on part time basis.

Soon, the question on everybody’s lips will be: “Have You Heard? Have you heard how The Muffinz rule the world?”. The Muffinz have unleashed their mysteriously beautiful world of eclectic soul to the South African public and they are set for world domination.

The music of The Muffinz is so new, yet so soulful, so accessible, so honest and so innocent, that it appeals to all age groups, races, classes and sexes. 

The five young musicians make a refreshing change from the usual run of the mill rappers and house DJs, who are currently dominating the popular music scene, in that they play real instruments, and they play them well. Added to that is all five musicians are great singers in their different genres of expertise.

Take for instance electric guitarist and vocalist, Atomza. His voice is best described as a young Michael Jackson meets Usher with a twist of rock. Drummer Keke then enters with his  Senegalese meets rumba vocals. The band switch from a groovy R&B rhythm led by acoustic guitarist Mthae and bassist Skabz, to a classy jazz guitar sound introduced by electric guitarist and acapella singer, Simz. And that by the way is just on one song!

That is why, to explain the band, they decided to call themselves The Muffinz. Explains Mthae: “We wanted a name that would be remembered, something catchy but a name that people would want to find out more about. Plus, we all come from different backgrounds musically and so we all bring different ingredients - as in the ingredients in a muffin.”

Song For A Friend

Sir LSG began his career as a DJ in 2006 whilst studying to become an electrical engineer at the University of The Witwaterstrand. It seems the love for music soon took precedence as the young SIr LSG started collecting records. Soon after Co-founding Hood Natives in 2007 with 3 other DJs based in Soweto, Sir LSG enrolled at the Soul Candi Institute of Music to learn more about electronic music production. After completing the short course at Soul Candi, Sir LSG enrolled at the Academy of Sound Engineering to do a two year diploma majoring in Music Production & Audio Post Production. 

It was the 2008 Southern African Music Conference that became a defining juncture in Sir LSG's music path, when he caught the ear of the legendary DJ Christos, whom since became his devoted mentor. Thanks to the relationship with Christos, German producer Ralf GUM came across Sir LSG's song “Sax in the City” in 2011 , which finally found its way to light when released on GOGO Music. With remixes from another German based Producer Raw Artistic Soul, and a fellow South African DJ/Producer Nastee Nev, "Sax In The City" reached the second spot on Traxsource's top singles chart. 

To date, the Mafikeng born Lesego Sefako has had the honour to perform at various venues across South Africa, alongside South African legends such as DJ Christos, Vinny Da Vinci, Tim White, DJ Ganyani, DJ Mbuso and Greg Maloka to name but a few, as well as international acts; Ralf GUM, Rocco, Monique Bingham, and Portia Monique.  On his solo path since breaking away from the group Hood Natives, Sir LSG has since done remixes for UPZ aka Avi Elman, Ralf GUM, Andy Compton, Nathan Adams and MAQman. He has also collaborated with Brian Temba, a legendary South African R&B singer/songwriter and trumpeter Kafele on a song titled All I Am, which enjoyed great air play on South African Radio Stations and became a local dance floor anthem. In 2014 Sir LSG was voted by Traxsource at Number 20 on the Top 100 Afro House Procers of the year.
