Andy was born Andres Calderon in 1983, the child of Puerto Rican parents. He was raised in San Juan Puerto Rico by his mother and father who later got divorced but that never stopped them for showing support toward all his activities. Growing up with the influence of Latin music make him have the Caribbean rhythm with him. His mother used to play oboe and his father the piano and percussion. During the early 90’s he developed an interest in hip-hop and rap music, liking artists such as “Snoop Dog, 2PAC, NAS and The Notorious B.I.G.”. Back in the day, Puerto Rico was struggling and the street music also known as Reggaetón had a significant impact socially and culturally, making people talk through music and identify themselves with the lyrics of that time. It was hard for him to adjust to a place since his parents lived in separate places and that took him through some rebellious attitudes during his teenager years. Those attitudes took him to appreciate Alternative and Punk Rock during the high school years, blasting bands on every sound system he could grab such as “Foo Fighters, Green Day, Blink 182, SUBLIME, Slipknot and Linking Park”. He loved music all his life, but it was in 1999 that he discovered the genre of “Jungle/Drum & Bass”, when he entered to a local record store; as he was always looking for something new, the store manager asked him if he had heard the new Dj Aphrodite album named “Urban Jungle”. Everything changed from that day forward followed by Dieselboy “A Soldier’s Story” as his second album. That album sparked the interest for him to start participating in the local Drum & Bass scene in the island. The next year “2000” he got his hands on two records that changed his way of seeing music forever, Dieselboy: “System Upgrade” and Ed Rush & Optical: “The Creeps”. It was at that moment in his life that for the first time he felt the love towards music up to a level that he never felt before. With zero knowledge on how to play an instrument or sing he knew what he wanted in life. Drum & Bass changed him forever and his passion moved from just going to parties to learning how to play, buy vinyl records in online stores such as “Breakbeat.co.uk” and “Redeyerecords.co.uk” and promote himself around local clubs. The year was 2001, he was graduating from high school and was all around the night life scene playing in big clubs, regular clubs with “open turntable nights” and even playing every now and then in FM radio. During that same time Andres met some cool friends that together changed forever the local game of the Drum & Bass scene and started "LoHi-Stereo". Their first release was in December 17, 2012 called “Moods EP” released by: “Nu Venture Records”. On December 18, 2013 “Formation Records UK” released “Wave”, followed by “Freeform LP Vol. 3” in December 23, 2013 which contains the Wave Remix from the one and only Formation Records Big Boss Man DJ SS. Two years later, Formation releases the single “Nob Hill/Desperado” in July 17, 2015. American label “Schedule One Recording” released LoHi-Stereo and Knoxz collaboration “Hardcore” in December 28, 2015. After that year, “Breeze” was part of the LP compilation “DJ SS & Influx UK Present: Deepsound Vol. 2” released on January 15,2016 by “Formation Records UK”, and their final release “Don’t Stop” hit the online stores in October 25,2016 by “Nu Venture Records”. You can find and buy all this records from iTunes, Amazon, Beatport, Juno Download, Track it Down and more… After the releases, Andy dedicated his time to play around at gigs and promoted the group and records until 2018, when he and his boys decided to part their own separate ways for a second time. Since then, Andy is focused in continuing his dreams and goals as a solo artist wondering what will be next in store for him. It’s been a long road but he has proven to be worthy of sharing stage with the big names in the industry and can be consider of the same caliber as the top DJ’s in Drum & Bass.
