It's been awhile since I posted something. Its been a rough while getting back into creating since the passing of a dear friend. This was a mix that was supposed to be aired on a radio show, in union with a mix by the intergalactic space rider himself.
Max was one of my best friends, and we shared a lot of musical tastes between the two of us. I saw him rise from his first track creation, to his moments of greatness.
This one is dedicated to him. For all the great times we shared in space together. I love you my friend, and I will cruise with you again soon (first shot is on me).

Coming straight from the Spanish underground is the Valencia-based producer known under the name of Upercent which is the newest member of the Upon.You Records family. Backed by a history including releases and remixes on labels like Sincopat, Suruba and Moda Black since he made his first appearance on the production circuit in 2013 this young and hungry artist is more than just a diamond in the rough and his „Penumbra EP“ is surely aiming directly at the heart of the dancefloor.The opener „Gent Dement“ draws all punters attention due to the use of a unique, slightly metallic drum foundation that's perfectly fused with score-like atmospheres of Morricone'esque qualities, projecting pictures of desolate, abandoned council estates onto our inner minds screen even before the male vocals fully endorse this track as the starting point of a dystopian, futuristic amalgamation of TechHouse and Inner City Blues. With „El Tornejant“ the Spaniard unveils the dreamier, more melodic side of his work catering an ever floating, oneiric scheme later accompanied by resolute, well-muscular drums, spiralling synths and damp, eerie, mystical sonic mists that are taking us to the very core of ancient ritualisms.
Following up is „Gent Toxina“, another deep TechHouse tune for the small hours. Weighing in melodic, yet again mystic, haunting synth works on the lower end of the sonic spectrum, crystalline abstractions and even a playful, uplifting flute motif this tune unfolds its inherent magic best if rolled out over the full playtime of a little less than 7 minutes.
Finally we see „Penumbra“, the title track of this EP, presenting a perfect balance of dark'ish tension, soft,romantic piano chords and a melancholia-inducing hint of Jazz Noir, mixing these influences up with a little bit of a DeepHouse and expertly cut vocals vibe to create a sweet tune to dance away to on a warm, yet rainy sunday afternoon.

Tony Cini’s Blues Explosion is a 4-hour showcase of some of Australia’s top blues and roots acts supported by up-and-coming artists.

Blues Explosion was established in April 2008 and has featured some of the country’s premier blues and roots performers such as Chase the Sun, Ray Beadle, Marshall and the Fro, Cass Eager, Gail Page, Darren Jack, Kim Churchill and Genevieve Chadwick, just to name a few.

In response to the declining number of venues catering for blues and roots in Sydney and the surrounding areas, Blues Explosion was created in the hope of rejuvenating the diminishing blues and roots scene by opening doors to venues who previously did not cater for this music.

In 2009, Bad Penny Records released the first Blues Explosion CD featuring 12 acts that had performed on a Blues Explosion bill.  The purpose of that CD was not only to promote the artists but to provide the venues with a product that showcased them.

This mix is the second part of a two part mini-mix series.
This is a story about love, and this chapter in particular, is about the end of a relationship and the roller-coaster of emotions that go along with it. 

The calm before the problems, the sadness, the breakup, the acceptance, finding yourself in it and taking the lessons learned, releasing the fear, the serene peace of solitude, the joy, remembering your lost love, finding solace in yourself, missing your lost love, the rekindling, passion, finding out they have fully moved on, the sorrow, the acceptance and start of a new beginning. (although, as with the first, this is just my interpretation of this particular story's flow) 

I hope this mix helps you along your journey and perhaps helps you realize that we all go through similar experiences and that the lessons learned create ripples in the worlds we live in, and throughout our reflections.

This first part is about the meeting of the two souls, falling in love, the ecstasy of being with your lover, the feeling of true romance, giving yourself fully, the doubt, apprehension, distancing yourself, the sadness, the longing, realizing your both just trying to figure things out, falling deeper in love, serene gratitude, and the realization that love, no matter how it comes,  is the answer. (At least that us my interpretation of this particular story) 

I hope this mix relaxes your mind, and opens up your heart to even more love! A guide to reverberate through you to spread your love to all those wonderful people around you.
