After a brief hiatus, Catharsis is back!

During this time we certainly didn't sit still, and we worked on new ideas for the future. First of all, we are excited to present to you our new look for our podcast series.

We kick off with podcast #33 and with one of the driving forces behind Catharsis, @sarame-official!

Behind the decks, Saramé has managed to combine experimental, captivating rhythms with flowing, hypnotic atmospheres. In the meantime she has mastered translating her transformative music message into her own work, operating her analog machines in her studio. 

She teamed up with Toxido Mask to bring their shared, musical vision into a record label, called Modex21.

In this podcast, Saramé takes you through a swirling selection of tracks, showcasing her signature style. Enjoy the journey!

2022. A new year, a new Catharsis chapter ☯️

For our Catharsis Cast #34, we’re delighted to welcome @myles-serge from Michigan, USA.

Myles Sergé is a techno producer, label head, and old-school DJ, however, he prefers the term ‘reclusive perfectionist’. 
Myles is no stranger in the Berlin club scene and enjoyed bookings in Berghain, ://about blank and Griessmuehle. At Tresor, he’s a regular behind the decks.
Not only a regular in Berlin Myles has also a residency at Steevio’s Freerotation festival in Wales. With a belt of labels under his control, MS, Re-Form, Dosed and Space, Myles has released his music on different labels like Thema, Ilian Tape and Metamorphic. 

In this mix, Myles presents you that warm, bangin’ machine funk warehouse techno for steamy nights. Use your living room as your dance floor and pump up the volume!

We couldn't be happier to start off things with Myles and also have the fresh and new look with dear artist Aurim on our side

For our Catharsis Cast #35, we’re blessed to have received a marvelous and transcendental live recording by @groundtactics

This podcast is a unique composition from Ground Tactics, it includes several unreleased tracks all composed with Prophet 8 and modular synthesizers.  

Ground Tactics is an electronic music composer & Sound alchemist,  providing “sound delivery services“ in Berlin which are sound guided meditations for his intimate audience to experience in their own homes an ancient art form known as sound hypnosis, performed “behind the scenes“, tuning & inspiring other musicians to play with universal knowledge blueprint frequencies awakening human virtues to act in accordance with the purposes of serving the expansion of consciousness and the exploration of Self. 

The two sided artist performs live with acoustic instruments (essentially with high quality Tuning Fork which he makes manufacture and sell on his Webshop https://999Hz.co) in private and released electronic music on Lumières La Nuit and Midgar Sands. 
His next release is with his industrial/ noise project Icon Template for Antibody Label.

Big Leg is a rave instigator and jester from the swamp of Essex in England, now residing in the swamp of Berlin. As part of the collective Astral VIP he throws raves in the outer-lands of the city, focusing on kinetic tripped out tracks with a focus to bring you low, away from "hands in the air", and with a touch of euphoric nihilism for that sprinkle on top. Dance-floor weirdos and sonic freaks rejoice and indulge in the sound.

Catharsis Cast #37 by Jank Inc.

We are thrilled to have @samgoku for the 38th edition of the Catharsis Cast.

Robin Wang aka Sam Goku, a Munich based DJ & Producer.
It is a satisfying experience when an artist manages to create a modern sound by implementing what makes dance music so dearly appreciated amongst enthusiasts: blended noises, repetition and some cheeky, unexpected madness.
Sam does that in his productions - with a sleek straightforwardness that one would not expect from a rather hypnotic beat.
He skilfully plays his way through myriads of sub-genres and microcosm in the realm of (leftfield) house, techno and bass music, developing sets that are equally characterised by buoyant ease and yet great depth in the rhythmic, melodic and sonic details.
This is what he represents in the mix so well.
Blending genres with a finess to it. Groovy yet with subtle rave characteristics in the lower bpm genre.

Catharsis Cast #38 by Sam Goku

Next up with the Catharsis Cast #39 is no other than @blind-observatory!

Blind Observatory is a DJ, music producer, designer and visual artist who's body of work is orbiting around topics of science-fiction, futurism and astronomy.
Conceived as a philosophy of treating dance floors as the "observatory for the blind", the name stays a constant reminder and loose set of rules for David when investigating both, the infinite freedom and loneliness found in the universe. 
This unique approach and a deep understanding of a night's flow make him a true master of riding the thin line between melancholy and euphoria, earning him the reputation of a DJ's DJ. 
Since 2016 he is running the small label @gravitationalrecords, not only as an outlet for his own music but a hub for like-minded artists.
David's sets are best described as cinematic journeys into the unknown. 
This is so well represented in this journey he created for us.

We happily present you for our second Catharsis Cast one of our resident DJs, Tomash Ghz.

Tomash Ghz is a DJ, producer, audiovisual artist and electronics maker from Cyprus based in Berlin.
Interested in experimenting with physical interaction, sound and visuals; by blending those elements together in unexpected ways he seeks new forms of creative expression through technology.
He created numerous MIDI controllers and instruments for himself, as well as other artists; set up interactive installations, prepared audiovisual performances, performed in festivals and gave workshops to kids as well as professionals.

For the third Catharsis Cast we present you collective member SaraMé. 

SaraMé is a Dj and Produce, based in Berlin.
Collecting only what her ear loves from classic house to ambient, experimental to underground, her selection diversifies as it develops and grows and she expresses it organically. 
Currently she spends most of her days in her studio in Berlin surrounded by her modular synthesizers as she enters her journey into the production of music.

Catharsis Cast 004 // Liviu Groza

We proudly present you for our sixth edition label boss from "Sol Asylum" Julie Marghilano.

Despite not being a native to the city, Julie Marghilano has done that most difficult of things: she has made a name for herself as one of Berlin’s most cherished creative souls. As a broadly informed DJ, truly experimental house producer and taste making label boss who, with friend Jools, has built a compact and bijou empire around her Sol Asylum label and party, Julie is very much defining the modern house and techno landscape.
This almost 2 hours of the live cut from the Sol Asylum anniversary at Hoppetosse Berlin is a nice presentation of what Julie has hidden in her record bag.
A nice combination of classic house, atmospheric landscapes combined with a techno groove.

Catharsis Cast 006 // Julie Marghilano _ Live cut from the Sol Asylum anniversary at Hoppetosse 2018

For the seventh edition of the Catharsis Cast we proudly present you our dutch friend Roger Gerressen.

Over the last few years Roger Gerressen has proved himself to be one of the most versatile artists out there, trying not to be predictable with his DJ sets nor his creative output as a producer.
After his first releases on the local Wolfskuil Records he co-founded ESHU Records in 2011 and was a driving force in group projects like ESHU, Dilated Pupils and ARC#. Real recognision came after a string of well received solo releases on Fear Of Flying Records. A few years later he started his own label OGUN Records.
Today he has releases on labels such as Sushitech records and is part of the Yoyaku family. He also made new record labels called Audiodact records and Irenic, which offer him a creative freedom that he had been looking for.
You can hear his different influences in this podcast, created from his heart to us.

Catharsis Cast 007 // Roger Gerressen

We are happy and proud to have for the 008 issue of Catharsis Cast, Andrea Ferlin on board. 

DJ and producer Andrea Ferlin is one of the founders of SLEEP IS COMMERCIAL. It was in 2008 that Andrea, alongside Francesco Assenza, brought the label to life. Andrea found time to craft his production skills and has released his own material since 2006 on labels like Freakn'Chic, Mindshake and Leftroom. In Berlin Andrea has really discovered and shaped his sound, producing a signature apparent in all his tracks and performances, something seeming to sway effortlessly between the beat machine and the snake charmer.
He worked/works on many projects such as the duo: Dunkle Dummies, Clarissa Hazel Duo and Fedon.
As solo project he realeased as Sunny Charles on SLEEP IS COMMERCIAL.
In 2015 he create his new live project Atoll.
2016 he create two new labels Proboscide and Atoll.

Bruno Santos aka Cleymoore is a portuguese Dj/Producer based in Berlin, Germany.
Father of the ever-growing artist collective and record-label Pluie/Noir, an imprint focused on audio-visual collaborations under his artistic curation, Cleymoore has a very peculiar vision about music and how it should be experienced. 
He has a steadily growing catalog of vinyl releases and upcoming EPs on his own imprints Pluie/Noir and Klangstudie.
Part of the Rotate booking agency he is djing around the globe.
And now part of the Catharsis collective as well.

Felicia Lush is the tripped out, shadowy experimental moniker of Montreal based producer Alicia Hush. 
Inspirited by field recordings, fairy tales and fragmented beats - the Felicia Lush project pairs burly bass lines with whimsical warmth that serves up a no boundary live performance and sound.
Today she also runs a label together with Sarah Lamb called Hushlamb, where she released under Alicia Hush.

We end the year with the 22nd edition of the Catharsis Cast made by Toxido Mask.

Julia Lipniewicz, known as Toxido Mask, is a growing figure of Berlin's underground scene. 
Since completing her Sound Design studies, she has been producing music. Tracing her path in this musical journey, she is both developing her style and aiming to fulfill her vision: through the concept "Carthasis" she is tapping deeper into the complexity of sound and bringing like-minded people together.
Currently, she works together with SaraMé on their upcoming label: "Modex21", where they also will be releasing their own music.

We are happy to start the new year and the Catharsis Cast 023 with Bpmf.

Jason Szostek, known as Bpmf is a musician based in Philadelphia.
His musical journey started at an early age.
He always had a desire to expand the boundaries of electronic music and so he did. In New York, he met John Selway with who he formed Synapse and created Serotonin Records to bring the funk back.
Synapse was the first American electro group to play live in Moscow. BPMF released tracks on Serotonin, Schmer, Instinct, EMF, Tension/Rancho Relaxo Records. 
This recording is a cut from his live set at the Dust Bunny, Philadelphia PA.

Across a glittering 18-year production career, under an array of aliases, Madrid-based über producer, the music chameleon Eduardo de la Calle has worked with many of the most important labels of modern times such as Planet-E Communications, International Deejay Gigolo, Semantica, Mule Musiq, NONPLUS, Mental Groove, NON-SERIES, ORBE - as well as fathering his own vinyl-only imprint Analog Solutions. It's hard to put a fine point on Eduardo's sound. Equally capable of composing lush, languid soundscapes, exotic tech-house, sci-fi Jazz, and why not, brutal big room assaults, De la Calle is a truly multi-faceted and artist.

Taube is a young Berliner who has been active in the local scene since 2013, hosting parties, djing, and performing his own music live.
In 2017 he relaunched the electronic music Label Sowasvon, with his two colleagues Steven Maff & Wynt, as well as his own Label Taube.
Taube's electronic music is specified by driving beats, careful sound design, and forward driving sequences.

Chryslsm is a Berlin-based deep music curator and co-founder of Cape Towns podcast and label Intrinsic Audio.
Spending his time sifting through large amounts of digital music and wax, his sets span from the ambient side of dub techno to the more dance floor oriented side of deep techno. His sound is characterized by dark baselines, slowly-evolving elements and introspective moods.

We are happy to present to you for the 32nd Catharsis Cast Jessica Kert.
Jessica Kert spent her youth in rehearsal rooms of her hometown making music, independent of everything else, a world of her own where she can freely shape, evolve, and rediscover herself. By a fortunate coincidence 8 years ago she found herself as an employee in SchneidersLaden - a synthesizer shop based in Berlin, that was her first dive into the world of electronic music and she became instantly fascinated by modular synthesizers. The experiences she gained playing, inspired her to start her own solo project - a very personal journey of musical discovery - immediate but not intrusive, raw and harsh but gentle, pugnacious and effortless at the same time.
