The Homerunner can be a really powerful tool in the right circumstance. The main feature is its ability, named "Home Run," when activated, the user will take a batting stance for a second and swing. If a player is hit by the Home Run, they will be stunned for 3-5 seconds, take massive knockback, and a whopping 50 damage, which, more likely than not, will be an instant KO provided there are no walls blocking the player being knocked back. The user will also receive the Batter Up status effect for 10 seconds. This makes it a preferred weapon to use for ambushing, as you can sneak up and Home Run an opposing player. You can also reflect projectiles with the Home Run. While it does take a lot of luck and skill, if done correctly, the projectile will be reflected with 400% power. With enough practice, you can use this to quickly get rid of your foes during Roundcat Rally, though beware of players spamming their swords, as they're easily able to reflect the projectile back to you!

Where it suffers is it’s slow speed, as Home Run has a lengthy wind-up before the attack actually connects, allowing enemy players to simply stay out of range should they see it coming. It has a slower swing speed and no lunge, making it less preferred for moving swiftly mid-game. It relies on a Home Run landing to gain the speed boost, and needs consecutive Home Runs to keep up with it’s boost, but if it misses, it can be easily punished. Because of this sword's wondrous reflect power, it is an excellent choice for use in Roundcat Rally. It may also be useful in Infection while Infected, as the high knockback paired with a superball hit can easily push a survivor into the void, especially in the map Dark Jungle, where a lot of it is present.

Though it is ill-advised to use the Homerunner as a Survivor, the Batter Up speed boost can be useful to run away from danger. However, the Infected have high jumping power and fast walking speeds, making it much harder to get the first Home Run off and leaving yourself incredibly vulnerable to being swarmed if you miss.

If the player lands a successful Home Run, they will be granted 150% speed for 10 seconds. This makes the Homerunner amazing at hit-and-run due to being able to easily get away with extra speed while also being able to hunt down other players faster. The speed boost will be activated upon hitting a player or reflectable projectile with Home Run.

Interestingly, with good timing, a paintball can be Home Runned and will gain you the 150% speed boost, but most of the time the paintball will not hit anyone as it is affected by gravity.
