The Freestylers: 28 Years of Bass, Beats & Global Anthems

With a career spanning nearly three decades, the Freestylers—Aston Harvey and Matt Cantor—have made their mark on the electronic dance music scene. From playing the world’s biggest festivals and clubs to appearing on Top of the Pops, they’ve remained at the forefront of the genre without ever standing still.

Origins & Breakthrough

Aston Harvey began as an engineer and producer, working with Rebel MC / Congo Natty and co-producing the jungle classic Spiritual Aura with DJ Rap. Matt Cantor, meanwhile, was part of Strike, co-producing the dance hit U Sure Do. The two met at Fresh Records, bonding over their love of hip-hop, electro, and breakbeats, leading to the birth of the Freestylers.

Their debut album brought them international success, with hits like B-Boy Stance and Ruffneck landing in the UK, Dutch, and German Top 20. A major US record deal followed, leading to a spot on Lenny Kravitz’s American Woman tour and a legendary Glastonbury 1999 performance.

Global Hits & Reinvention

Over the years, they’ve released a string of anthems, from Push Up, a #1 hit in Australia, Holland, and Belgium, to Cracks, which became a dubstep classic with 80+ million streams. They’ve also collaborated with Pendulum and held festival residencies worldwide.

In 2025, they’re set to release their seventh studio album, Enter the Sound—a collaboration with Dub Pistols featuring reggae legends like General Levy and Tippa Irie. With a packed schedule of festivals, remixes, and new music, the Freestylers are still going strong. In the words of LL Cool J: “Don’t call it a comeback—they’ve been here for years!”

Integral to the evolution of the underground dance scene in the ACT and development of Dragon Dreaming Festival, KaTgirl embodies almost two decades of dance culture experience.  Psychedelic Rainbow KaTgirl Superstar DJ began as a performance art piece to, 'take the piss out of every pretentious DJ we ever encountered', over her ten years as a promoter, but once she began mixing she couldn’t stop and playing music soon dominated every aspect of her life.
'We quickly realised that a drag queen on stage was a game changer in a predominantly masculine scene. Being transgender strips away delusions of cool, enabling a special kind of "uninhibited freedom" and fun which is expressed through my music'. Every baseline, sample and track is an expression of that freedom. Our D-floor is PHAT, GROOVY, SEXY and outrageously silly FUN!
She met VJ Vajazzle at Rainbow Serpent and their combined audio visual orgy has been bedazzling Melbourne’s clubs, raves and interstate festivals ever since. Let go of preconceived ideas of how you think things should be and come join the party! <3

Poseidon is Adrian Zuanic’s psytrance project. Based in Sydney, Australia, he creates music with an eclectic mix of feelings and styles.
The techno side of the project smoothly integrates inspiration from the progressive side of psytrance into the deeper, rumbling tribal hypnosis of minimal techno with swampy, slowly building atmospheric imagery that carries the listener on a journey into a tropical fantasy land. His psytrance integrates melodic morning psy with a progressive layering of sounds, broken beat interludes and darker biomechanical textures into a spine twisting, foot stomping explosion of funk, psychological tweakery and emotive, spacey melodies.
Classically trained on the violin from the age of 5, he draws inspiration from those roots and flourishes it with the sonic alchemy of modern electronic synthesis and sampling. In 2008 he began producing psytrance and has since released tracks on compilations and an EP for UP Records and Kinematic Records.

Squishy feels most at home under the stars in the Australian bush surrounded by speaker stacks and laser beams.

He combines fun, funky and furious psychedelic music to keep you smiling on the dance floor. 

His love for expansive soundscapes, bumpy bouncing bass and spiralling melodies can provide a full-out-of-body workout. 

His energy behind the decks and general overall sillyness is infectious no matter what time or space you find him in.
